Is this mint set toning or some other kind of Mischief ?

The luster is satiny and crate wheel under the color but can not photo it.
The colors are not very bright either.

It is hard to tell from a picture. My 1st thought is they were heated possibly by a small hand held torch.

Glen, even before I would ask myself if these coins were toned naturally or artificially, I would ask myself "do I like the toning?"

Frankly, I don't. I prefer coins that show some type of pattern and coloring with bands or patches, and lighter and pastel colors.

Only if the coloration is attractive do I ask the next question: will PCGS slab it?

Recently I turned down some offers of slabbed proof quarters that were toned because the toning was NOT attractive.

So, do you like these coins? If not, don't both with them.

    Cheers, alan mendelson
