looks like dre' miller is a jazz..

The Clippers may be smart to look at TJ Ford in the upcoming NBA draft, as rumor has it restricted free agent
Is he worth $8 million a season?
Andre Miller will receive close to a maximum contract offer from the Utah Jazz according to sources within the team. Given Miller’s performance as a Clipper, they may not be wise in matching such an offer sheet. It seems the Jazz have put together a short list of potential free agents and Miller is one of their top choices. The Jazz if they renounce rights to everyone possible, could be as much as $14 million under the projected $43.2 million 2003-2004 salary cap. There is talk that Utah will sign and trade Karl Malone, per a pre-arranged deal with Malone and Jazz owner Larry Miller. Sources in Utah have hinted for sometime that Jerry Sloan would retire rather than face rebuilding, but comments this week from Sloan about outgoing Houston coach Rudy Tomjanovich make it seem like Sloan isn’t as out the door as sources would suggest. With $14 million to spend and roughly $8 million to $9 million of that going to Andre Miller, the Jazz may be leveraging their future on a so-so player.

i could careless is Dre leaves because he just isn't the same Andre Miller he was in Cleveland. the clippers don't need to draft tj, just move jaric to his natural position, the one. jaric is most effective at the one. as for the pick, trade it for a veteran. they need a floor general. someone like payton who is also a free agent however i doubt he'd be interested.

and $8-$9 million a season?!? he's only worth $6-$7.

  • and where do ya get this stuff from?? lol, andre didnt do what i thought he would do this year with the clippers, and he would fit in with the jazz pretty good who need a point guard right now to help out mark jackson if he returns next year

  • jackson will prolly retire as well. that jazz would be stupid to pay that much money to someone who can't buy a jumper.

Payton & Malone to the Lakers! image
  • we can prolly do only one of those players w/ the 4.5 unless both malone and gp sign for the 1 million apiece. let's hope they do. image
  • No way Malone signs any contract for less than 10 million. Period. Secondly, Dre Miller is gonna get that kind of money with any other team so why not the Jazz. In my mind there is no better point guard in that dollar range. Kidd will comand way too much and Payton is too old. A perfect fit for the Jazz and Dre. Well worth the $8-$9 mil he will get.

  • you live in Utah too and it must be all over the news that malone will leave for less money (4.5 exception) for a shot at a ring. that brings in the lakers, mavs, etc. the problem w/ this is that all the teams that can contend already have talent and he still wants to be the all time leader in points. well, there's no way he'll be able to still score 20 pts a game on a team that can contend already. in the end, it will come down to this q:

is being the all-time scoring leader or winning a ring more important? i'd def. say ring and i think he will too.

Yeah, what do I know. I only live in Utah and have followed the Jazz since they moved here. Malone has stated in 2 interviews that the scoring title is more important to him right now than a ring. Also, there is no way in HE** Malone will take such a huge paycut. This is the same guy who had pissed and moaned every year about his salary and how all these younger guys were making more money than he was. Trust me when I say this...Malone WILL NOT sign for less than $10 million a year.

He will end up taking a pay cut to stay with the Jazz and sign a 2 year deal worth $14-$15 million per. He was scheduled to make $19 million this year but Larry Miller won't fork out that much. Malone will realize no other team can afford to pay him and he will be forced to sign with the Jazz (which he was gonna do anyway to get the scoring title)

  • I disagree, I actually think Malone could easily go to a team such as the Lakers and still average 20 ppg. Outside of kobe and shaq (65 or so ppg) they need scoring. You can count on him to get 20 unlike people such as Fisher, George, and Madsen image. Just my .02
