Yes I have went wacko after redoing pictures all afternoon and most of the evening for the Registry Set today. Man is it worth it ? Does anyone ever look or even care ? Usually I just look to make sure I still own the coin. image Atleast they are almost done again. Well as done as they are going to be. Oh yea I only did 20 + of the coins in the six hours.

    Ken:

I don't know if I'd rather have your ability to take pictures of your Mercs or some of your Mercs--it's a hard call! image

More seriously, I learned something from looking at your pictures. At an intellectural level, I know that the early Denver mint coins from 1918 and for the next few years were struck from dies that must have been spaced "too far" apart because FB coins are scarce. But I had never seen these coins. Your pictures really brought home to me that FB specimens of coins must be uncommon.

I also was taken with your 1925. My preference is for "blast white" coins. But I surely can appreciate some of your colored ones. I particularly like the 1925. If I owned that coin, I probably wouldn't dip it....image

One question for you: What's the deal with the "2" on your 40-S dime?

Thanks for sharing--it was really enjoyable and enlightening for me!

Hey Mark I just put a thread up on the coin board about that 40S and the 37P. Look at the reverse of the 37P up at the top O of OF. I have no clue how these Toned like this but the tone is plain as day on them. The 37P I spotted right off after buying it but the 40S took quite a while to spot the 2 on it.

Also I was going to start a thread on the 28P but we can do it right here. How many of you would buy a Merc that looks like it does ? When I first got it I thought what a piece of junk. Then after looking at it and seeing how original it was and not tampered with I changed my mind. The pictures make it look a little darker than it really is but I believe it is all there for a 65 coin. Any thoughts ? Be Honest with your opinions. Mine is made up so other opinions will not bother me.

It's too hard for me to make an assessment from a picture. I know that I would pass on the coin if all I had to go one was a picture because I don't care for the off-white coloration. Setting that aside, it's also tough for me to assess the luster. But the strike sure does appear to be 110% present.

    Ken,

I know I am one to check out everyone's photos. Keep 'em updated. I think you have about as good as photo skills (if not better) than most people who put photos up.

I know mine are out of focus on some, the color is off on others and some have more than one problem. I look at other's photos as tools in judging my own.

(I wish everyone owned digital cameras, and put up photos.)

    Fairlaneman,

It's worth it to me! I really appreciate having photos of high-grade coins up for the viewing. Beyond being an education, its an aesthetic pleasure! Your coins are great-looking. Thanks!
  • Ken (and David) I have looked at both sets and think its great. I wish I had the camera to show off some of my better pieces. Maybe some day. Keep 'em coming.

  • Very nice job on the pics, Ken. But aren't some of those little beauties a bit too white for you? image

Thanks Guys. I was being somewhat sarcastic. Myself, like others, if doing this was not enjoyed it would not be done at all. It keeps the time rolling on a Rainy Oregon day. Just seems like it is done every other day though. This is the fourth time they have been updated I believe.

And to think, I had to suffer through a sunny, hot Florida day. It was awful. I had to go in the pool to cool off and everything. image
