PCGS Submission Times

I submitted a set of eight coins for grading at the regular service level. It has now been 15 working days, and not yet done. What time frame have others been getting? How long from the time that the coins are graded until they are posted at the "submission status" site? Is the service guarantee applicable to the free gradings from being a platinum club member?

sorry for all the questions, but I hope others can shed light on what I should expect.
Thanks

  • Here are my latest results. I gave two coins to a local dealer on Feb. 20th of this year, he managed to get them to PCGS on 3-20-03, where they are still sitting on the shelf somewhere. I called the dealer, he said he sent them economy. I cant stand the fact I may be without my coins for 4 months. (By the way, he gave me the invoice number to look up, and I do it dailey)
On the other hand, I sent in two bufalos, on March 23rd, and got them back on April 30th. They were sent regular.
Just my personal observation, DONT SEND ANY ECONOMY!

  • I have found that the modern submissions are running about 30 days at the most. I've only submitted three times, but they were all under 30 days with the economy service. Be patient, they will come back. image It's also my understanding that if they are ther more than the 15 days, for each week after that they raise the grade a point image
    Good luck

Received a regular submission grades today 52 days after coin were logged into PCGS system. Regular submission completed last week took 17 business days.......so I'm seeing PCGS pretty much running on schedule plus or minus a day or two.....

I made two submissions for crossover, regular $30 service, and the coins were not returned in the "guaranteed" time frame. When I called customer service about the status of my coins, the service rep said "sorry," and said they were sending me free submissions for two gradings. Will let you know if I get the freebies. cheers, alan mendelson

I never even talked to them, and they sent me a credit memo for $60 for a two coin submission I had in. Just arrived in the mail out of the blue. Thing is, it was for a submission that arrived before the implementation of the guaranteed turnaround program.

  • Is the guarantee that the coins will be graded within 15 working days for regular submissions?

If by regular you mean you paid $30 a pop, yes. But the guarantee has an exclusion for shows where they are doing on-site grading.

  • For the platinum club submissions, does the guarantee apply?

If you mean the free submissions, no it doesn't.

  • How quickly do they normally get the "free submissions" graded? (although they aren't really free, when you factor in the cost of the membership). I was under the impression that these were "regular service level" ie 15 working days. Mine have been in for 17 working days so far, and it is killing me.image

They go in to the same queue as the regular submissions, but do not have the guarantee. However, they generally do get done at about the same speed. But, again, if there was a show with on-site grading, all bets are off.

  • UPDATE: I got the results of that submission mentioned earlier...made a 64 $1 1889S, made a 65 $1 1897 S, worth the wait..image

I wish that was true, but I just double-checked, and it says that further processing is still pending....do you know something that I don't?image
  • I submitted 20 coins Economy on 3/19 and they were shipped today (64 days counting Sat/Sun), also sent 20 Modern in on 4/21 and they were shipped 5/13 (31 days)

It's BBBAAAAAADDDDDDDD, but I'm not ready to bark yet. Maybe they are upgrading my coins????

Submitted my set for FB designation. Shows recieved on 4/12. I have seen some of my coins hit my Registry set as FB, but the invoice has not shown, and neither have the coins.

    (groan, moan, groan, moan .. . . )

    Ok, I'm through.

  • Well, I emailed PCGS, and they say that I can expect mine to be done by the end of next weekimage They say they are behind schedule due to a recent big coin show. Oh well. Sigh.
  • Well its been another eight days and still my coins aren't graded! Its now been a month and a day....for the supposed regular submission level image
