The scammers are getting better at their crime. I just received the slickest email asking me for information about my paypal account. At first glance, it looks legit. Even the source code all points to Paypal.com. But I know it's not real because paypal would never ask for the following via email:
Email Address:
Password:
Full Name:
Billing Adress:
Billing ZIP:
Debit or Credit Card #:
Exp.Date(mm/yy):
Debit or Credit Card PIN:
I pulled this line out of the header:
Received: from smtp2.nix.paypal.com ([66.130.29.46]) by mc7-f32.law1.hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(5.0.2195.5600); Sat, 17 May 2003 14:32:37 - 0700
Here's the problem, when I tracert to 66.130.29.46, I get modemcable046.29-130-66.que.mc.videotron.ca [66.130.29.46]. This email originated from a videotron.ca in Canada, not from Paypal!
Remember, both eBay and Paypal never ask for passwords, pins, or credit card info via email.
