1952 Topps Set w/ PSA

Wouldn't you think the seller would take the time to PSA grade one of the most important cards in all of baseball - the 1952 Topps Mantle!

Check out the link...

If I'm dropping 40 large on a set, I damn well better be sure that the Big daddys are graded, don't you think???

Always makes me nervous to see a private auction with a private feedback and 99 bids at $40k....

Nice Set but....

He likely DID send all the star cards
in for grading, but they came back
ALTERED or TRIMMED - he is just not telling
    You that!

    I wouldn't buy it.

  • A large percentage of the bids are within 30 seconds of each other. Sounds very fishy to me. It would seem to me that this kind of auction should be done in public. I don't think private was meant for this kind of transaction. What legitimate uses are there for private auctions?
Call me crazy, but I collect 62 Topps BB.

  • Here is what EBAY has to say about private auctions

    << <i>Private Auction
    Protects bidders'—and the buyer's—privacy

Want to let bidders on your item remain anonymous? When you use Private Auction, bidders' user ID won't be displayed on the item listing or bidding-history screens. When the auction is over, only you, the seller, will know who bought the item.

Please don't make your auction private unless you have a specific reason, such as potential embarrassment for bidders and the buyer.

For the life of me I can not see why anyone would want to make an auction for Baseball cards private ... Unless they have something to hide (ie Shill biding, Poor Ebay record inferior product(Pro graded cards) etc...)

By the way the MAYS looks trimmed on the upper left corner...
