Is there an online resource with up to date pattern prices? [or even slightly out of date ones!]

    TDN:

I can't find the list that was created by Robert Hughes. There is a link to it from the uspatterns.com website, but the link is broken. I am posting this information here in the hopes that Andy Lustig will read my message and either up-date the link, which would give you what you want, or else eliminate it.

Anyway TDN, sorry I can't find a web-based price list. I must presume that you already know that an up-dated Judd book will be available at the ANA convention.

It's not the online source, but I was surprised to see how much coverage the Krause catalog gives US patterns, now. It was an interesting discovery, since my Judd book is ancient, and the Krause is the only reference I personally have with any sort of modern pricing on them.

(Looking at that pricing, I find it doubtful that I'll be collecting US patterns any time soon...)

There is no online guide. The Society of US Pattern Collectors has auction prices realized, but that can be tedious. The new Redbook should have some prices, if I'm correct, and the new Judd book will have prices.

Edited to add: Prices Realized Link

The link on uspatterns.com used to go to the old Bob Hughes price guide hosted by coinswanted.com. That site seems to no longer exist. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    TDN-

If you haven't already, check Auction Prices Realized, I believe they have everything listed by Judd numbers - probably better than a price guide. PM me if you want something specific, I have a run of them & can check.

I was just wondering how the two big Rudolf Sale gobrecht patterns [the 1836 name under base with no stars on reverse and the 1838 with stars on reverse] did compared to a price guide.

As I understand it, the new Judd catalog will list the most recent sales records. Patterns that are only scarce and are offerred from time to time, can be more accurately priced.

Rarities, those that show up infrequently, will always be difficult to theoretically price as there are many factors, one being demand (popularity of series, design, etc.) that effect values at different times.

I'm sure they brought WAY more than the levels in the old price guide.

i wonder if i can afford an 1891 barber pattern half ?
The President claims he didn't lie about taxes for those earning less then $250,000 a year with public mandated health insurance yet his own justice department has said they will use the right of the government to tax when the states appeals go to court.

Ask not if you can afford the coin. Ask if you can afford to do 5-10 years in prison. The coin is unknown outside of the Smithsonian.

"unknown" is the key word. There are others. We just haven't found them yet!

Julian - What makes you think that there are more 91 Barbers?

They didn't strike just one of a silver coin. A gold coin, yes, but not silver, IMHO.

Julian - I hope you're right. Please give me first shot when and if you find one!

You'll get a shot, Andy, but I can't promise that it will be first, nor can I promise that they will be found during our lifetimes.
