Need a little help with Nikon Coolpix 4500

Just purchased the camera yesterday and have been playing around with it ever since. I've been using the manual mode and macro. Most of the pictures I'm taking have a grainy look to them. Can anyone help me out. I must admit that I'm overwhelmed with all the settings and don't understand many of them yet. I'm including a sample of what I'm trying to describe. Hope one of you out there can help me. Thanks in advance!
