Anyone going to the monthly Atlanta Show on Sunday?

The last one was reportedly very good - this is the one just before the Blue Ridge Show, so hopefully there'll be some goodies available - anyone else taking the trek?

  • Me...Although only about 30+ dealers it's sold out and difficult to get a table for this year.
Interestingly some of the larger dealers bring fresh items to these small shows to see if any of the dealers have a customers for them especially before a 'major' regional show such as the GNA in 3 weeks. For example a 1795 Half Eagle NGC-62? that has been off the market for 6-8+ years and was just obtained by the dealer Thursday will be there. Last month one dealer brought two uncirculated 93-S dollars one in 62 the other in 63...incidentally the one in 62 was not only more attractive and much less expensive it sold immediately. Also its not uncommon to find desirable coins in 'off brand' holders that have never been submitted to a major grading service. But you better stick to your area of expertise and if in doubt pass. Nevertheless, I've found a disproportionate number of really good coins at the Atlanta monthly show.

Not me, though I suppose I should check into future GNA events. Seems like they should have some in our part of the state sometime, instead of way up there. Though in Georgia, I'm a lot closer to north and central Florida than I am to Atlanta.

But I have friends in Atlanta, so it might be worth a future trip sometime.

  • The monthly show is a nice little show. I enjoyed my visits there. And, yes the GNA is coming up and it should be a nice show in Dalton. The Blue Ridge Show in Dalton is the largest in the state though with about 200 tables and is coming up the last weekend in August I believe. It would definitely be worth a trip from south Georgia or the surrounding areas...

I think the Blue Ridge show is the first weekend in June - if someone has info on it please post.

For those of you hem-hawing about whether to go or not, having the opportunity to meet Dahlonega and Wayne Herndon is well worth the trip in itself!

The GNA show is June 6-8. The BRNA show is August 15-17. Both are in Dalton, GA at the convention center. Both are nice shows but the BRNA has about twice the tables as the GNA.
