Found a STUNNER of a 62 DCAM Frankie, its a Frosty gem.... Found a 54s that had ms65 written all over it..... fliped the GEM over and the Bell Lines jumped out at me... Very strong for a 's' mint...... And the dealer sold it to me for 10 whole dollars.... Scored some other Frankies, a very nice possible ms65fbl 60p... Bought a few raw FB Mercs for my Raymond Wayte album........ Not much in high end Mercs...
I did see a dealer with 2 ms66fbl 1949s Frankies.. He was asking 1100........ Some many toned Morgans, most in ICG holders.... Also, Aspen Rare coins of Denver had some killer high end Commems, they had a ms66 Isabella in a NGC holder with spectacular Rainbow toning..... I had a great time... and hey, a few people notice that I had a little Hep in my step. Be Bop A Lula!!!

Lucy, nice finds. I am continually amazed at the discovery of raw coins (particularly Franklins) that can be obtained from dealers for such low prices. It seems that many do not know how to grade Franklins very well, or possibly they spend their time on what they see as bigger fish, eother way good for us.

I know one dealer that did a low 5 figure deal with another dealer on Franklins, and took a bath. I'm not sure if he bought them raw them was unhappy with the slab results, or if he bought them slabbbed and either paid too much, didn't know how to price them, or didn't know who the Franklin collectors are. I found out about the deal after he had unloaded them at a loss.

I ran into another dealer that had a case 2/3 full of PCGS brillant MS 63 and 64 Franklins (ouch on the grading costs), although a few were FBL, but on common 56-58... He apparently didn't know how to grade Franklins very well, or he just liked donating $ to PCGS. Then on a coin he should have made at least a few extra bucks a beautifully toned (periphel electric green; PCGS MS 65) 1958 (or 58-D; I can't recall, it is sleeping in a bank vault) he sold it to me at just over blue sheet bid!

Fudude- There are still PLENTY of high grade raw Franklins, both business strike and proof, out there to be purchased from dealers. Keep searching and take your time with the grading before purchasing. Good luck! image

I just found a little jewelry store yesterday whose owner also dabbles in coins. He invited me back later to look at and buy from "thousands" of raw Frankies, original rolls, and complete sets. Can't wait to go back...Ken
