ebay winner refuses to email while running many sale auctions themself

islemanguislemangu Posts: 1,391 ✭✭✭
I had a winner that refuses to email me. I first tried the ebays invoice system, then reminder, then a nice freely direct, another friendly 2 weeks later talking to myself like maybe he has mailed payment. Finally I emailed with a friendly threat that if after 30 days auction closing and still not the first return email then no choice but negative and cancel sale.
Here is the kicker that I can not figure. When he won my auction he only had 1 or 3 feedback on sales NOT BUYS. I since my auction over now 10 to 20 positive feedback all sales. He is got be emailing his tail off and all the sale transactions. Why is he ignoring his first buying transaction?

Sounds like a possible case of either buyer's remorse or a total a-hole.

I'd wait the 30 days and then pull the item and NEG him.

I basically had the same thing happen to me several months ago.

I emailed and emailed and no reply, but I noticed that the winner is active and receiving positive feedback.

Then about a month after the close of the auction I get positive feedback from the winner (of course I never sent the coin because I had no contact or payment from the winner).

I now email him to thank him for the positive feedback but I never sent the coin because I did not receive payment.

Payment received and coin sent within the week.

I "assume" it's just a matter of losing track of what one is doing.

I never assumed the winner was out to screw me, so I remained patient and all worked out in the end.

  • It could also be he has some kind of filter for his emails which drops you in the trash and never sees your mail?

You can always request contact info from eBay, then give him a call image

Ohbaby brings up a good point about filters. In this case, though, that wouldn't be it since a notice was sent through eBay and the guy has been doing business on eBay during the same period.

Had the same thing happen with a buyer who was a big stamp dealer in Australia (who had won a coin from me). He had very good feedback (150+, little or no negatives, mostly as a seller), but I never heard from him and felt it necessary to neg him after about six weeks. He was receiving feedback on sales he made around the same time, so I know he was online.

It was only a $35-40 coin, and if he had emailed and said he'd changed his mind, I'd have let him off the hook. I guess he didn't care that much about his feedback rating. He never left a response to my neg, either. Strange.

Edit: it is possible that an email filter could be the culprit in some of these cases. Some of the automated eBay emails end up in my Hotmail junk mail box.
