Luncheon scheduled for National!

Because I had so many people responding that they would be leaving the show Saturday, we have moved the Set Registry reception to Friday, 7/25/03 from 1-3 p.m. It will be at the Sheraton Hotel in the Pearl Ballroom.

Sometime in June, I'll be mailing out an email to all Set Registry members requesting your RSVP.

We look forward to seeing you!

I forgot to say, that I will be there as well. I was planning to leave on Friday afternoon, so the wife and I will just leave after the luncheon, hell for free food, I'd even wait longer. But the question is ..."who will be the mystery person popping out of the cake"? image ...jay
  • BJ - This is my first National.
In my mind; your event is the reason to attend. My budget has always dictated for limited spending and in the case of this show I will be happy just to attend; any small purchases aside. What has driven me over the last 18 months regarding the National is the opportunity to finally meet this fine community of collectors I have interacted with on these boards.
You folks are my retreat from the entanglements of life.

BJ, I am eternally grateful for your move to a Friday luncheon. I too plan on a Saturday morning exit. As some of my close comrads know; I am driving in from the glorious state of Maine and your change in plans has made my year!

Thank you, oh so very much.
    Warm regards

Great NEWS!! This should be a great time. Count (or should I say DEAL) me in! BTW--Is there a card playing contingent going to be active Thursday?

I can make it, however, I am not going if Eric's going (due to his personal hygiene issues).

I AM JUST KIDDING!!! Eric is actually THE MAN!!!

    Well...

The timing should be great on this! I figure that I will have already had 12 hours hunched over tables to that point - so my back could use a 2 hour rest - as well as some liquid lubrication!

Oh Alan. You know how rough the life of a rock star is. Cut me some slack. At least I won't be flying in and out on my private plane on the same day! Pretty soon I'll be able to afford Duke Sims, huh?image

    Eric,

You're the closest thing that this board has to a rock star....and one of the only few people I trust to take my sick humor the right way. I am truly looking forward to catching up with you in July.

No doubt Alan! As you know, my skin is thicker than mostimage!

I may be pulling an all-nighter Thursday night at a loose blackjack table, so I really may have odor-issues!

The time is not very good for those set registrants who are table holders. Many of us who collect also are business people in either vintage cards or supplies. Why can't you have the event in the evening after the show closes??????

    Thanks
  • Hubcap,

Please do not complain. BJ was kind enough to switch the event from Saturday evening to Friday afternoon because the latter was a much more favorable time for most of us COLLECTORS here, including myself. This event is for COLLECTORS, not people in the business who will have tables (even if they also collect). We should all be very appreciative of what BJ has done.

    Hubcap,

I think the biggest reason is that Thursday and Friday night after the show there is the on-site Superior Auction being run. That would leave the next night available as Saturday night. With so many people leaving by Saturday morning or afternoon, there would be no reason to run an event since it would be minus the majority of the registry members.

    Oh my my,
    Oh Hell yes!
Honey put on that party dress!

    Buy me a drink,
    Sing me a song,
    Take me as I come,
    'Cause I can't stay long!

-Tom Petty's reply to BJ's invitation to attend The Set Registry Luncheon.
  • So what do you collect, Skycap ?????? 1988 Topps ????????
  • I understand what you are saying, but I don't sell vintage cards and I was looking forward to meeting other Set Registrants. I guess there is a bias in this community, just like signingshotline, against dealers, regardless what they sell. Some of the nicest cards that I have purchased for my 1957-1965 sets have been from major vintage dealers. But of course, we can't also be COLLECTORS...tell that to some vintage dealers such as Levi Bleam. Have a great day !!!
  • Hey fellas,

Just made the travel arrangements. I will checking in on Wednesday and checking out on Friday. Can someone fill me in on the details of the luncheon and such?

Heh, sorry for my tardiness. I just finished the home stretch of 10th grade. Summer basketball and work have also started too. A PM or an e-Mail shot to me would be appreciated with details on the luncheon/other activities.

    Thanks,
