PCGS sent me money! And, I didn't even ask for it!

I just got a credit memo in the mail for $60 on a two coin regular submission that didn't come in under the 15 day max. Just arrived out of the blue, I've never even talked to them about it. Think I should tell them that the submission actually arrive there before the guarantee was implemented? image

    Congratulations!

And, I think you just did.

  • Russ, your post reminds me of an interesting issue that I've never asked. PCGS seems very reluctant to give back cash rather than to give a credit for future submission(s). Has anyone ever pushed them on this issue? I'm sure most people don't really care but since I rarely submit coins for encapsulation, it does matter to me. The only time I pushed them on this issue they refused. It involved a mistake other than not meeting a submission guarantee.

Russ, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but that is company script not money. You are way gone on this submission thing.image Were you a coal miner in West Virginia back in the 1800's?

And it's the opening song as they roll the credits in "Joe VS The Volcano".

    Fun song!

    Mike,

    I don't think it's traditionally spelled with a "t" on the end.

Thanks Russ, I did not know that, I always work for cash and I still get another day older and deeper in debt.image

So they send you cash and not give you free submissions? Its nice to see them standing up to the guarantee. I have 70 coins on the 15 day deal and tomorrow is day 15. From the status I got earlier in the week I don't think they are going to make it. If I were PCGS I would offer free submissions at the same service level instead of cash. As a customer however I would prefer the cash.

    Clackamas,

It's not cash, it's a credit memo. Since the only thing I buy from them is grading, it amounts to the same thing as free submissions.

Russ, so you can use the credit for any service level you want? Do you know if you use the credit and they do not make the commitment again do you get another credit?

Yes. It doesn't specify anything other than a $60 credit to my account. So, if I actually did use it, it would just offset whatever purchase was made, whether that's economy, modern, regular, etc. Since I'm pretty sure it's a mistake, though, it's not likely I will be using it.

My guess is that the answer to that would be no. No company extends a warranty in to theoretical perpetuity.

Russ, I sincerely hope that your coins were worth less than $60 to you - I think they BOUGHT your coins from you and you didn't even know it.imageimage

    Mark,

Actually I already have them back. It was the submission for the two deep cameo Accented Hair Kennedys, so I'm not exactly displeased with the turnaround time.image

Don't feel bad - I just got a bill for $15 for a guaranteed regrade that ended up 69 instead of 70. I thought there was no charge for that service!?!?
