whats the next coin you are looking to add to your collection

for me its a XF or better Barber Half. I have some G and VG but its time for an upgrade. that will complete my registry U.S. type set if the coins I submitted last week all come back in a slab.

EF or so draped bust cent. would consider a nice VF, and might decide to stretch and get an AU.

An 1893-O Morgan in as attractive as possible VG-VF. I am very poor at the moment, and need to save some $$ for this one.

Your post raises a philosophical question. Should one have in mind a specific coin and go after it while ignoring other coins or should one be opportunistic and let good value coins find you (i.e. grab a desirable coin when it shows up even if it wasn't a priority coin on your want list)? Isn't one setting oneself up to overpay by having to get a specific coin? Then again, if you get derailed by grabbing otherwise desirable coins while on the search for the holy grail you can end up not having the resources left to buy the coin you would have been looking for when it surfaces.

I don't know - I try not to go after a coin in particular, but rather fill my want list. That way I won't pass up any opportunities to pick up a cool coin that I may not have in my line of vision. With all that said, I've been trying to buy a chain cent for a while now.

Great question but I can't tell ya. Myself and another forum member are in cahoots on one coin that is currently up for auction. In our humble opinion it is a spectacular coin. Others may yawn at it but I have been privy to some spectacular camera work on the coin by the other forum member, which I am sure he/she will be happy to share once the coin is sold and/or in our possession.

depending on economic circumstance for me, but if a certain dealer here who told me they run into m.s. 64 flying eagle cents with better luster than the one he wouldn't sell me in pcgs 64, i would certainly buy it [if he really can find one that impresses me more than his]

I still want to find the barber half that i saw more than 13 years ago that was the finest 65 i'd ever seen [it was an 1892 in ngc 65 and no visible marks with dark rainbow toning and fuoll semi prooflike luster. iwonder if that coin is still in the same holder??? Les

A nineteenth century proof. So far I have three; two from the Lightside and one from the Darkside. So it'll probably be a Darkside item.

This is tempting me. Gold, Ultra Cameo contrast, and eye appeal. Less than 800 minted. To me, eye appeal is more important than technical grade- this coin knocks my socks off:

Well, I just placed on layaway, a 1793 chain cent in VF condition (except it has one ding on a link in the chain) so it is graded F.

This is going to be my first new coin added to a new pair of albums I just purchased. They are called "The Library of Coins - Type Set of US Coins" by the Coin and Currency Institute. It is a pair of albums that kicks butt on the Dansco 7070 album. There are spots for virtually every coin type released from 1793 until about the early 1960s (pre Kennedy though).

These two albums will take be about 10 years to complete (with alot of luck) perhaps longer.
