CoinReports AT Website Update!

Well it has taken a little while, but PCGS has now received 42 coins that have been donated by various Board Members (Russ, JBStevens, Dog, Wayne Herndon, GSAGUY & myselfimage (I hope I didn't forget anyone)) for grading. Hopefully, I'll get these back within the next 2-3 months so that they can be imaged, reviewed and posted to the website.

42 is a nice start, depending on how many get BBed, but we still need more. If anyone else has any questionably toned coins and you would like to donate them to the effort, please PM, I would like to get another group out to PCGS shortly.

The more examples of AT coins we can post on the site, the better we can educate the buying public about obvious AT coins on EBay as perhaps we might be able to reduce the demand for these coins and perhaps make it unprofitable for the coin doctors or diddlers, whichever you prefer. (I don't know, diddling just sounds so pornographic, I have this image of a guy sitting in a dark room with a coin in one hand .... well I'll just leave it at that.)

Again, I would like to personally thank everyone who has donated coins, money, their efforts, to make this a reality. We still need more of everything though and any donations of any type would be greatly appreciated. This is just step one in a process of education and civil service to the community.

Of course, once the grades come back I will immediately post them for all to see.

Thanks again,
Michael

    Michael, thanks for the update.

Please be thinking about the best way to get the web site to appear on search engine lists - that would be a good way to get the word out to the masses.

    Okay Mark,

I'll just use the name Mark Feld somewhere in the title. I'm sure that would get it alot of traffic! image

Actually, we had/have a member that did press releases and I was hoping we could do one to all the numismatic rags as well as some of the websites with links. I'm sure upstanding dealers like yourself would love to post a link to an educational website about AT coins so that others wouldn't waste money on that junk.

As you are also aware we are going to selling memberships to the site on Ebay for $1 that will last 7 days to help generate revenue and spread the word. A seperate auction will be continously relisted in all of the coin categories were toned coins are hot. A search under toned, toning, color, colors, colorful, monster, rainbow ect should pull up an ad to the site.

I knew someone would ask! Well the actually site is not up and operational yet. We still need the coins to come back from PCGS before we can actually start to advertise it. But we do have a mock up of the site that was so painstakingly designed and built by Coppercoins.

We don't have a URL yet, but he has hosted a mock page of the site on his for all to view.

    Just remember, the links DON'T work and the actual editorial is also a mock up, but if you want to get a feel for what the site might look like, well here it is;

Be kind in any criticism, this was a lot work which was donated by a fellow board member. Kudos to Chuck.

    Thanks

What series does the site need more examples of?
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

    Frattlaw,

I'll just end all my auctions now and send them to you...that should give them a nice array of ATs!

We could always use more AT Jeffs, Buffs, Lincs, Roosies, Frankies, Walkers, Ikes, SBAs, Eagles & Sacs.

Also, if anyone has bought any coins from any of the alledged but notorious Ebay "Diddlers" we could also use any denominations/examples of their coins and workmanship. I might even feature a certain Ebay seller if we can get enough coins from a particular "diddler" to BB. Let me know if anyone has and wants to donate a coin or two.

Oh, by the way I would appreciate anyone's help in giving this thread a bump or two over the next couple of days to keep it near the top.

    Thanks
    Michael

Doug, don't worry I've got a couple of your coins peg for submission if I can get them. If they come back NT, I'll sing your praises, if they come back AT, well, they'll be up on the website.

I really hope they aren't since I do love toned Peace $ though.

    Michael,

Looks like I am going to lose my tail on those auctions...they must appear AT to others too. Paid $20 for the featured and not even there yet on most...oh well, back to the oven, I mean drawing board! image

Hey Frattlaw, no on is "AT" barbers are they, only a real slim ball would do something that low!!! Les
The President claims he didn't lie about taxes for those earning less then $250,000 a year with public mandated health insurance yet his own justice department has said they will use the right of the government to tax when the states appeals go to court.

Doug -- don't worry I bet they take a huge jump in price due to snipes. I know I'll be there. Would you like to donate some of your coins as a test? If they slab -- great, you are vindicated and get a monster coin in a slab which will sell for big money. If not, then you'll know for sure. There, I've thrown down the gauntlet. Are you willing to pick it up and send me a coin or two for testing purposes. No cost to you!

Les -- I haven't seen any cooked Barbers, though I would imagine that a serious doctor could improve on a barber with hairlines with some well placed toning. I can't imagine a "shake & bake" doctor going after that market. But if you come across one, let me know.
