A Nice Pair - 1932-D & S Washingtons, Raw

Almost 3 years ago, these were part of one of my first e-bay purchases. An almost complete set of silver Washingtons. The ad said it was Whitman folders 1 & 2 with three date/mint missing. The 32-D & S were not listed as missing. I bought the lot for $110 (including shipping). Happily when it arrived boith these coins were present.

I plan to send them for grading among my freebies for 90% sets. I expect an AG03 for the 32-D and F15 to VF20 for the 32-S. No high grade wonders, but nice coins worth the cost (free--sort of) to slab.

Of course the top right goes with the bottom left. (i.e. ttt)

Those look like the exact ones I have. I bought a 32-D AG-3 and a 32-S F-15 a few months ago to complete my set. Now, I am thinking of upgrading the 32-D to a F-12, to be consistent with all the others. I would have to guess that the rest of the set is probably between F-12 and VF-20 for the first folder. Let us know what those grade, if you send them in. As mine are really similar.

Brian -- I like them both alot. Remind me of what coins looked like when I was a little kid. (Although the earliest Washington I ever got in change was the rather common 1934)

  • These are beautiful, probably very original coins. They remind me of the early silver Washingtons I used to collect as a kid.

    Very nicely done!

I don't mind dark coins and I think that the '32-S is a fabulous thing. You definately made out like a bandit on that deal.

Nice pair.I agree with your guesstimation on grades.AG for the D and VF for the S.
    Let us know the outcome.

    Nice commemoratives.

(I've officially designated the 1932 quarters as commems for my Dansco Washington set so I don't have to buy them).
