I'm trying to avoid any personal information, so just vote but don't give any personal information, for obvious reasons.

Real value.... or the value my wife knows about?

Since there is no personal information, the real value. You have to have at least one coin. Even if it is a half cent, it would still be worth at least one cent, so that is the lowest value.

Wondo, for this survey, go for retail. It makes it seem larger.

Bump for a poll that has 94 participants already!

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Down by 50 % this year for economic reasons. But i was a good caretaker for those pieces, so hopefully they will be in equally good caring hands.

As to what my collection is worth, how do you measure the joy of owning your favorite coins in just dollars & cents ?
The President claims he didn't lie about taxes for those earning less then $250,000 a year with public mandated health insurance yet his own justice department has said they will use the right of the government to tax when the states appeals go to court.

Are you sure the info. is confidential and not accessable to PCGS/Bowers??

This is a good topic for me to share a tid bit of info, without getting into personal info.

I made an excell program to inventory my collection, and use the cdn bid/ask price as value. I also total this column as well. Over to the right, I have made a column to input purchase price. Since my collection consists of purely key-dates that are all 100% PCGS graded and at least solid for the grade, with nice eye-appeal. Using this value gives me at least a liquid cash value of the collection. (Not that I ever plan on selling). This liquid cash value is based on the (just about gauranteed) amount of money that I could turn the collection over for with in a few days, mainly due to the above, and strong buyer intrest.

One intresting note about this, because of the recent strong price increases in the past year or so on key-dates,the toatal cdn value has surpassed my purchase price for the first time ever since I started back collecting seriously 7 years ago. This is even more exciting due to the fact that I have always prefered to pay the extra money for the better eye-appealing coins vs an average for the grade, even if it ment well over cdn ask or even retail levels at the time.

  • So, I see everyone fell for this. This is to let you know that the IRS has been sent copies of the value of your collections. They will contact you soon! image
