1955 Topps All-American grade weight question...

...for those that are familiar with the set or the players
in question. I have already contacted BJ at PSA about this --
he forwarded my request to Joe O., and I was denied, but I
figured I'd throw this out here and see what y'all thought.
The #52 Lujack card has a grade weight of 4, yet the #76
card of Bertelli has only a weight of 1. Now I'm not saying
that Bertelli should necessarily be weighted at 4 also, but
it should at least be higher than 1. Here's my case...
Both were Heisman winners and star QB's at Notre Dame,
with Bertelli also finishing 2nd in the voting as a Sophmore.
Looking at career college stats, Bertelli's numbers are even
slightly better than Lujack's. Neither player's card is an
SP in the set, and neither player went on to have stellar
careers in the pro game. Bertelli's card also recently sold
for a little over $70 in PSA 7 on eBay, with a Lujack card in
the same grade selling for only $45. I know prices are based on
current demand among set builders, but I rarely see the Bertelli
card in high grade on eBay so it's hard to compare the two cards
on that criteria. It just seems like these two players are very
similar, even playing for the same university, yet the grade weights
assigned to each is very different (4 vs. 1). Most indicators I
look at even have Bertelli ranking slightly better than Lujack.
Opinions? Thoughts? What am I missing?
thanks,
Chuck

Many people are also requesting that PSA 8 population numbers be equated into SMR pricing; for example, the ALEX WOJCIECHOWICZ and CHARLEY O'ROURKE cards which are always tough!
SMR pricing continually lags behind realized football sale prices, it has been mentioned many times before. Look at the recent sale of sets #1 card HERMAN HICKMAN ...
1955 TOPPS #1 HERMAN HICKMAN (R) PSA 8 NM-MT
... even though there are 33 graded PSA 8 NM/MT.
I was unaware that NM-MT pricing was one of the
main factors for weighting. I learned that here,
and Joe Orlando also mentioned that in his reply.
I guess the main problem here is really the inacurracy of
SMR pricing which, as mentioned, has been discussed.
In a final email to Joe I made a final request that the
Bertelli at least be given a weight of 2, since the Lujack
is priced 2x the Bertelli and carries a weight of 4.
I guess we'll see what happens, but I'm guessing that
Mr. Orlando has other things keeping him busy so I'll stop
bugging him about it.
