Don't you just hate it when.......

you pay $4 for insured shipping to some guy on ebay and he sends your coin in a 37 cent stamped envelope scotch taped to the back of a piece of paper.

    Sounds like a typical Ebay loser seller, but what would burn my britches is scotch tape on the coin.image

  • Yea and when they say that they will combine shipping and knock off .50 they think that they are doing you a favor. Yada, yada about wholesale on E-bay do not rip me off and then cry about making it up on the ship.

    Ask for a refund, and if you don't get it, leave a neg- you paid for a service and it was not provided.

  • I had this on seller, Seylevel; IT told me that it would not combine shipments because IT started it's auctions so low, IT got more money that way. We agreed that IT would ship my two wins in seperate packages. Well low and behold, they came in one package with 3rd class postage. I gave IT a neutral. IT in turn gave me two negatives although I paid every cent I owed. So be careful with who you deal with on Ebay.image

  • Easy enough solution. Tell him that you didn't receive coin and request money back, insurance should cover it.
    If he had insurance he would know that the coin was delivered, if not .... what's the recourse of the seller if you paid for insurance?

    Sorry, feeling somewhat mean spirited tonight image
  • I've paid extra for insurance and received nada coverage from another seller ~ he actually did credit me back

    Seylevel sets off an alarm already in mind - thanks for the reminder!

    Seylevel is a weasel jerk. He ripped me off for $10 once and I had to wait 90 days to neg him in the middle of the night so he couldn't retaliate.

    As far as S/H goes I hate paying $5, but as a seller for the most part, it costs me money to make slabs for the nice people on eBay, let alone my time.

    One guy left me positive feedback saying "Charges $4.50 S/H with 80c on envelope" so I blocked him. No more cheap coins for the complainers.

    Here is the S/H break down 3 transactions I picked at random...

    $ 0.55 List Fee
    $ 1.29 Final Fee
    $ 1.13 PayPal Fee

    $ 0.80 Postage
    $ 3.95 TOTAL
    $-4.00 S/H Fee

    $ 1.40 List Fee

    $ 0.80 Postage
    $ 7.22 TOTAL
    $-4.50 S/H Fee
    $ 2.72 My cost

    -----------------

    There are cases where $4.00 + insuance is justified, and those are the cases where the items must be shipped in a box. After a certain point, there is very little difference in parcel post costs or using the USPS priority mail boxes. For the most part, I think that if sent in a padded envelope, $2.00-$2.50 should be plenty.

    That being said, I wouldn't give up on the auction of a coin that I was interested in because of the extra $2.00.

  • Paybacks are fun. Thats when you tell them it never arrived and you want your refund...... Once they get burned once, if they are smart, they'll never cut that corner again.
