Not bad, alot better then I thought it would be. It'd be nice to go back and have some really detailed art work on our bills though.

Michael, your first reaction was literally the exact phrase I thought of.

Not much of a departure from the current note (I guess they didn't want to scare people). I hope each denomination has a different color scheme, even if they are a bit muted.

Yep, all the demoninations will be a differnet color.

The only 2 notes not getting the color treatment are the $1 and $2.

I like the front, the reverse background reminds me of a picnic table cloth.

I bet the colors will be more subdued on the real thing, though.
  • Is the yellow-ish color because it's a "specimen"?

    superlative!!!!!

totally different in my minds eye because of the color it also helps if you are not colorblind also!?

WHERE CAN I GET A NOTE LIKE THIS ONE WITH THE SPECIMEM OVERPRINT AND ALL ZEROS IN THE SERIAL NUMBER!

I dunno, I like the subtle colors, but...

AJ keeps getting goofier looking with every release. What's with that too-big head and tiny little shoulders? And is he sitting in a barber's chair, or what? That off-center nameplate also looks like it's added as an afterthought.

And I don't like the weird specing on "RESERVE NOTE" either. Or that new eagle/shield thing. The overall look is of too many disjointed little items sprinkled all over. Just doesn't have a nice "flow" too it.

Did I mention I like the colors? image

Those are not his shoulders. It is the collar of his coat.
  • I think it is a fabulous step in the right direction, including the portrait without the oval, and the way that the design elements blend together.

Now, with that said, will the CU BEP $20 notes from the BEP be more valuable now?

I forgot to add... I will be in Washington on Thursday and plan on stopping by the BEP. I hope they have some goodies available.

    Nope.

The color scheme is (from left to right)

    Green - Peach - Green

The Eagle on the left is a light Blue, and the text on the right is also light blue.

imageReading the articles and seeing the pictures on the new bill, I thought the last design change was supposed to reduce counterfiet bills. I think a major revamp of the notes should be worked out so technology won't catch up to produce fake bills before the 100 comes out! I don't see that happening with this design!image

    Jeff,

There is so much MORE going on in the new design that I cant see why you would think it be just as easy to counterfeit. JMHO

I think I read somewhere that North Korea puts out about $600 million a year in super notes (counterfeits). The treasury and the US goverment want the monopoly on printing fiat money, so they had better hurry to cut out the competition. image

was the design change done for security purposes [to make the bills harder to counterfit] ?

seems i heard or read something about that a few years ago.
The President claims he didn't lie about taxes for those earning less then $250,000 a year with public mandated health insurance yet his own justice department has said they will use the right of the government to tax when the states appeals go to court.

Yep, this change is one of several planned in the 90s to make the currency harder to counterfeit. Some of the things they do are pretty darn cool!

well... looks better than what we have now. I like the way the old bills look. I have no clue about any of the old paper money, but it sure looks a lot better than today's money.
