A question about 1936-1942 proof sets.

I`ve been told that `36-42 proof sets in their original "hazy" condition are more favorably graded by the services than dipped sets of similar quality.I feel that these "hazy" sets are unappealing and always feel the urge to dip the silver pieces to remove the "haze".

What is your opinion on these "hazy" proof sets?
A dealer once asked me if I noticed any three-legged buffalos on the bourse,to which I replied,"...no,but I saw alot of two-legged jackasses..."

This is a pretty hard question to answer. It kind of depends on the type of haze and how much. A little original patina is a positive. Pretty color is a big positive. Dull haze is a definite negative. Bright surfaces with deep mirror contrast is a positive. Bright surfaces with an over-dipped look is a negative.
