Maybe fifteen years ago, there was a Superb Gem 85-cc GSA that was absolutely stunning. Perhaps a 68 by today's standards.

Didn't the Govt. weed out the "ugly" toners (probably for eventual dipping by someone back then) as white coins were the craze? or would the toning have occurred while inside the GSA slab? There were different styles of GSA slabs throughout the years of their releases. Maybe some earlier or later had a different median material inside slab that would tone different from others?

Maybe not the nicest but certainly the coolest: I just saw a non-CC GSA that was a strict 64+ DMPL.

Do not fall into the error of the artisan who boasts of twenty years experience in his craft while in fact he has had only one year of experience... twenty times.
Yes, most of the toned CC coins did NOT say uncirculated on the GSA holder like the white coins did, as the idiots at the GSA must have incorrectly thought these were circulated or defective coins.
The best GSA's I've seen were, as a whole, the ones I saw in the 70's before everyone started cracking out the best of them.....I still have a dozen I bought in 1972/73 and they are for the most part, far better technically and appearance-wise than 99% of what I see offered on ebay and most other sales forums today. How many MS65 PL's are still in GSA holder after 30+ years....????
