How long does a Morgan have to be in a mint sewn bag in order to aquire monster colors?

And, if it sits too long in a mint bag will it go black? Why is it only on Morgans? What's the record price for a common date toned Morgan?

Time is only one variable. One must also consider Humidity and temperature.

Taking all these into consideration, perhaps 15-20 years, if left undisturbed in the canvas bags.

Some of the silver dollar bags were left in the Mint storage for 30-70 years, or more.

The owl said "A one... a two... (crunch)... Three.... Three licks to the center of a tootsie roll pop!"

Just as the fact that only God can make a tree. Only time and divine providence,

can make one of those wonderous, beautiful and unforgetable toned silver coins.

......................................very good point bear.....humidity, and temperature, play the biggest part on how long it takes for them to tone......if left untouched, and under the right conditions, at least 15 plus years.........image

There are otherr variables as well, such as where the dollar was located in the bag and its orientation, and the composition of the bag itself. The bags were made of a natural fiber canvas so the the chemical composition of the fibers would vary from bag to bag, also how was the fabic treated during its creation? It is very possible that the cloth the bags may have been treated differently from year to year. Especially if the cloth came form different manufaturers. It may have been bleached to whiten it, or treated with sulfur compounds to retard decay or possibly left untreated. These are just some of the things that could have been done to them.
