1895-o Barber 10c edited with a thanks!

I just saw this dime for sale. I have been wanting to find a replacement 95-o for some time. It's PCGS graded, but the strike seems a tad weak from the photo. 95-o are seen weekly struck but usually on the reverse bottom left, not so much the obv. The head band area seems soft on the obverse to me.

The coin is quite pricey and I am thinking that I can do better waiting for a better to come along.

Give me your opinions on the grade and eye-appeal

thanks

i think one of the reasons you havn't got a responce is that is a very small scan.

The surfaces look clean and it appears to have a prooflike finish, you never said what the grade is, but if this a mint state coin i wouldn't touch it.
From the scan, i don't see any wear, but it has the luster of an au coin, but with surfaces that clean is it a 64? what ever it is it looks washed out to me. Les

I'm thinking it's about AU50 something, maybe 55. Looks ok to me, I don't see anything major to point out and you know I can usually find something. If you want to wait on a nice 58 but you might be waiting a while.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

i'd be more concenred that the coin is ugly-cleaned. therefore, it is a low-quality for the issue

In my opinion, it appears over dipped. Not a nice coin.

I hate it when you see my post before I can edit the spelling.

Always looking for nice type coins

  • I have an ngc 45 at $1800 if interested will show a scan. Did you know that an 1893 S $1 in 45 has a pcgs/ngc combined pop of 427 and the 1895 O 10c has only 11. The dime in your pic looks nice but most likely dipped.

Thanks guys for all your input. The coin was graded PCGS-55. I thought the coin looked dipped myself and more of a lower end AU.

The price was quite high near MS-60 money. After looking at it when I posted, I had already decided to pass, but was curious on your opinions.
