New photo added to my Registry set. 1949 D Franklin

I recently got this beauty from Mitch. The luster and frostiness are outstanding. Most of the marks are on the slab not
on the coin. PCGS MS65FBL. Mark.

    Wow - frostcaticus rex!

Excellent addition to your collection Mark! I don't think I've ever seen quite as nice a 49D! The frost on that thing is blinding! Congrats!

Mark: That really is a super coin! As you know, I won it for around $1750 at a major auction, but had closer to $3,000 to pay on it if I was run up (happily I wasn't), as I viewed it as an outside shot upgrade coin (and a blast white 66FBL of that date is worth a small fortune!). Tried it 2x walk-through at PCGS (didn't work) and then sold it at cost (actually $130 under). Just a fabulous "PQ" blast white gem FBL example of that date for your set. image

I've never seen a blast white of this date. Now I have. Cool. Sweet coin!

  • Now I've got really bad 49-D envy.

Oldcameoproofsguy, I took a look at your proof Barber quarters. I don't think you need to envy anyone, but thanks for the compliment. mdwoods image

  • I've got a 49-D NGC MS65FBL that has very light mint set toning. But it doesn't have near the luster of your coin. That thing is blinding!
  • WOW! Nice find Mitch! That's a stunner.

image You've got to polish them too to get that kind of shine. Turtle Wax works well. mdwoods
