Now this is slow shipping!!!!!!!!!!!

April 7 2002 I won an auction from a guy and paid promptly and never got the coin.
When I asked him about he said he shipped it. I told him I never got it. He said I should have insured it and I that I was just SOL. I told him who pays for insurance on a $4 coin (it was a broadstruck nickel on a Type 1 planchet) but I would take him at his word and chalk it up to the PO losing it because he had good feedback as a seller.
Well today it was in my mailbox! It was postmarked Apr 17 2002.
I'm glad I was cool, I'm usually a nice guy to deal with, and didn't do something hasty or stupid like trading negatives saying RIPOFF!! AVOID THS SELLER!! or something like that. I just didn't leave any at all.
I see he did mail the coin soon after receiving my payment. I wonder where it has been for the last year & a month.

If that was sent express mail, the seller could get a refund on the shipping.

  • I don't know if it makes a difference, but when I go to the counter and get the printed meter postage instead of stamps, my things get to their customers much faster.

    Go figure?

I had a coin take the scenic route once also. It was postmarked the day after I sent a PayPal and took 3 weeks to show up. Can't blame the seller for that.

I thought my coin that shipped on Dec 16 2002 and arrived here in late March was bad...

What probably happens is the bubble mailer is left in one of the white mail tubs. These get stacked when not in use, and if the item was in a Post Office that gets more of these than they use it could be missing for a very long time. This is another reason I use those 4x4x4 boxes, they are impossible to miss.

Pennies make dollars, and dollars make slabs!

....inflation must be kicking in again this dollar says spend by Dec. 31 2004!
