I find it hard to believe that coin was cracked out of any reputable company's holder.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • How could anyone who graded that coin AU be called reputable (or more aptly 'knowlegable')? With the marks and horrid porosity it at best nets a 20 grade. Slabs only can make a sow's ear into a silk purse for the gullible.

I have a feeling if that thing was really in an NGC AU55 slab, the description would read more like this:

1848 LG CENT NGC AU55 AWESOME PQ++++++++++++ WOW - OH MY GOD THIS COIN IS GREAT.
    1 Tassa-slap
    2 Cam-Slams!
    1 Russ POTD!
  • golly gee WoW ! Batman ! i'm beginning to catch on and understand the grading scale . a + is about . 25 of a point , so it makes sense that xf 45 and +++ equals 45.75 , which , when rounded up according to IRS rules , gives you an au50 ! But a scar is worth minus .25 , therefore you have a net xf++ ! ps. does anyone know of openings in a grading service ?

Oh how noble you are cleaning up after the NGC graders breaking it out first then selling it
    Yeh rightimage
The setting up of other roads
To travel on in old accustomed ways
I still remember the talks by the water
    The proud sons and daughter
That knew the knowledge of the land
Spoke to me in sweet accustomed ways

Sure... someone is going to bust a coin out of a NGC AU55 slab and sell it as a XF on eBay. When a certain place freezes over.

Let's email the seller and say: "hey dude, if I win this large cent, will you at the very least guarantee that it will certify as VF-20 at NGC?" Of course, the large cent in question would not certify at NGC nor PCGS..........body bag city. I would guess that ACG would not even certify that piece of junk. Well, okay, that's an exageration.
