Check this one out.

Look at the bonuses you get if the bids go over $500, $750, or $1500. Sweet! image

  • I have no idea what his reserve is, but I bet it doesn't reach. These cards are going to be far more valuable to the seller than he's willing to admit.
Strong buyer of 1970 Kelloggs Football & 1971 Kelloggs Baseball and Football. Please help me find cards!
I have a few hundred extra PSA graded 1971 Kellogg's cards. E-mail for price list. Looking for 1970 Topps Supers in PSA 9 too.

His marketing is creative, it reminds me of those late night info-mercials. You know, "Only $49.99!!! and we will double your order! But wait theres more, order now and receive this special bonus, and if you order within 15 minutes you'll also receive...."
One problem I notice in the Powell collection, there is no uniformity of grading companies, he seems to have a bunch of different slabbers EXCEPT PSA. Most collectors like consistency, not 5 or 6 grading companies...jay

At least most are SGC. I didn't spend too much time looking, but if I remember correctly, the '68 looked pretty nice. Still, I don't think many (or any) of these cards would grade PSA 8. Hardly worth the $1,600 BIN.

  • I'm shocked it's over $100. By the looks of that junk, the high bidder won't be getting those Ginsu Knives.

I think it is kind of cool. I also like how he listed the BCCG cards with the actual grade first as in EX+ BCCG 8.

I wonder what the deal is with the private auction? That's always a turnoff for me, unless it's a seller with a $5,000+ item that wants to keep pranksters from bidding on his item. I think it's nice to offer a complete player set, but the hodge-podge of too many different types of graded card companies really bothers me. I never heard of CLG. I also agree that there is way too much verbage in the description.

I recently found an auction that I was very interested in but the seller had a private auction. I emailed the seller and told him I wanted to bid but I was leary to because of the private auction. I asked him why he used a private auction because that is the first sign of a scam on Ebay. He took offense to my question and told me I shouldn't go around accusing people of stuff. I replied saying that the only reason I asked is because I wanted to win the lot and my concerns were for his best interest. He apologized, but I still didn't bid on the lot.

The only time a private auction should occur on ebay is when the item is valued at many thousands of dollars. From a buyer's point of view, a private auction is meant to secure their identity. If I'm bidding on an item that's worth a few hundred dollars, I couldn't care less who knows about it.

In my opinion, in 9 out of 10 ebay auctions that are "private" (and under $1000 + or -), the seller is trying to scam potential bidders. It eliminates the chance of anyone contacting bidders to warn them about the auction.

Well, I was doing another ebay search today, and it came up again:

Graded Boog Powell Set SGC 96 = PSA 9

This time he decided to spam PSA in the title even though not one card is graded by PSA. He also lowered the BIN and reserve and the "bonus" prices.

He states, "This is the last opportunity to win this set as I've lowered the reserve and "Buy It Now" price. If it doesn't sell this time, I'll keep it."

I think he'll still be the owner of the "finest Boog Powell graded card collection..." come May 27. image
