How is this error possible?

The dime looks like it has both rims on one side, but is off center on the other.

Looks like a misaligned die strike. That's about as far
off as they get. Looks like a '96 from the scan though.

I think your right CladKing .`96 or `90 but not `99.Would the date matter that much.
I wondered about the date on errors.They dont seem to appreciate a whole lot over time
as other collectable coins.Am I wrong?
I have a `81 P Jeff with the off-center obverse and normal reverse.
I guess the reverse was struck first ,then the obverse next?
Arent coins struck on both sides at once? I guess thats not always true.

That's an
EXTREME
misaligned die. It's another underappreciated "minor" error along with the likes of machine doubling.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
