Sorry sir, I do not have any of these coins. I do have a question for other FS Jefferson Nickel seekers. Where is the most likely place one will find a 1968-S 5c with full steps? Would it be a 1968 mint set or original BU roll?
In the past, I have slabbed two 1970-S nickels w/FS and both were cherried from 1970 mint sets. Continuing along those lines will somebody someday find a no-questions 68-D, 69-D, or 69-S 5c with full steps?
Anyone wishing to share their FS-hunting experience is appreciated.
Hey Ray are you reaching for the stars. Just getting those early ones in FS is hard enough.

I have found my 68-S FS in a mint set, along with two 70-S Rolls have not been to good 69-D I have found with 6,6,3,6 nicked and bridged Still looking Glen
see im going full hog on jeffersons, and everyones enquiring why my set still hasnt been listed, as all else is...well..some people are in for suprise
anyhow I have stayed away from FS'teppers...I am doing wierd high grade proofs and varietys, along with trying to assemble early date cam and dcam coins.
About one 1970 mint set in 1200 will have a spectacular gem FS "S" nickel. There will be very few near misses. There are some more frequently seens gems here, but they will be weak strikes. There are some FS '68-S nickels in mint sets which aren't extremely hard to find unless you want them gem too. I've never seen a 68-D FS in sets. I've seen enough sets and enough die pairs in various states of preservation that I don't believe this one will be found in sets. Four step gems aren't too hard.
I've looked at quite a few rolls over the years and have never had good luck with them. Many people report finding modern gems in rolls, but for me they are far too few and far between to look much.
Gem nickels are the toughest ones to find in mint sets. In some ways most Ikes are hard- er and the Ikes do average much lower grade, but when it comes to fully struck gems, the nickels generally are tougher. Gem nickels tend to run under 1% of mint set coins.
I am just looking to upgrade my 65-present CS Jefferson nickel set. These are the coins I need for upgrades that currently are "available" (i.e. - they exist in the pop report).
I beleive that most 68-70DS FS coins that are true full step coins come from mint sets. This has been my experience as well as those I have talked to. I personally have pop'd several (3?) 68S FS coins in PCGS holders along with several 1970S's (2?) and a 70D. Some were crossed from ANACS holders, some from mint sets, and 1 (a 68S MS64FS) from a roll. I have not really seen "nice" 68-70ds Jefferson rolls.
