CU BOARDS LUNCH AT LONG BEACH - WHO'S IN?

Following the last CU board member lunch at Long Beach (at which Miles Standish of CU dropped in and treated everyone to lunch), Miles told me to set up the May, 2003 Long Beach lunch again!! Who can attend? It will take place on the first day of the show (Thursday) at 11:30 a.m. at the Hyatt Buffet. We can meet at the show at 11:20 a.m. at the PCGS table, or anyone can simply walk down to the Hyatt buffet at 11:30 a.m. where we will all meet. I need to schedule in advance with the Hyatt, just like I did last time (we had 20-25 members last time).

Board members can bring their favorite coin or two and we can have a big "show and tell" at lunch as well.

Just let me know on this thread or via PM if you can attend.

Next time I will arrange to attend the show by myself so I can attend on the opening days. It is too hard making arrangements for my family too.

Last call for the CU Lunch at Long Beach!

Incidently, CU informed me today that they are delighted to treat all registered board members to lunch (thank you CU) and that anyone is welcome to the lunch. However, those non-registered board members will not be paid for by CU, which makes total sense to me. Non-board members - please make sure to advise the waiter at the table for a separate check. Thank you.

Greg is a forum member, and a registered one too: KenyaBuster. I can easily understand CU's position if they choose not to pay for KB's lunch. But, I could also see reasons why CU would be willing to pay for KB's lunch as well.

This lunch is really a social event; it is the perfect time and place to set aside past differences -- at least for the duration of the event.

I will not be able to join you folks for lunch; as such, I am be happy to offer my place to KB. (Assuming, of course, that my "CU-paid plate" is transferrable.)

In any case, I hope y'all enjoy yourselves!

EVP: I just hope my biggest concern next week at Long Beach is who is paying for Greg's lunch.

And, if Greg feels the slightest bit that CU should pay for his buffet lunch, then he can feel free to leave no money at all and I'll personally pick up the tab along with paying for my 11 year old son, Justin.

CU did make it clear to me that every attendee at the Lunch is welcome and, I agree with you, that at this social event prior situations should be left at the doorstep.

Hey, I am a registered forum member. This forum membership comes with the paid CU membership. My paid membership has not expired - nor have I been contacted by CU should they wish to purchase it back from me. Current asking price: $19,810.

I am also a Set Registry™ participant. I currently have registered sets - including one which is the #1 ALL TIME FINEST. I'm 100% serious about this!

Seriously, if CU wishes to be petty enough to selectively pay for lunch among forum members, that is fine with me. I can afford the money for my own lunch. Personally, I intend to go there and have a good time talking coins to fellow collectors - many of which I have known for years. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to pry a nice coin out of the hands of one of them for my collection. You never know...
