    Howdy Sam!

Does your handle indicate you're a pilot or something else?

    Just curious. image
    Dan
  • Lets see…….”LEARJETSAM”. If we break that down into its sub forms I think I can figure it out.

    “L”………..An acronym for “Left”
“EAR”……Well we all know what that is.
    “JET”…….To squirt or spray
    “SAM” …. A proper name.

So what we have here is NOT a pilot, but in fact a Person named Sam with an incredibly bad, possibly incurable oozing left ear infection.

    Again, welcome to the board

    Just fun’n with ya! image

    HELLO ! ! !
THANKS TO ALL FOR THE NICE WELCOMES, ESPECIALLY MIKE AND KEN FOR THE LINKS TO MY SETS.

TO ANSWER ONE QUESTION, YES I'M A PILOT, I FLY PRIVATE JETS WORLD WIDE FOR A CHARTER COMPANY BASED OUT OF FT. LAUDERDALE FLORIDA. NO DAY IS EVER THE SAME SO IT KEEPS THINGS VERY INTERESTING.

I COLLECT MOSTLY MODERN COINS AND LOVE THE MODERN COMM'S WITH THERE RICH HISTORY OF OUR GREAT NATION AND THE PEOPLE WHO MADE IT SO GREAT. WITH SOME OF THE MINTAGES AS LOW AS 5,000 TO 15,000 COINS I THINK THEY SHOULD MAKE GREAT INVESTMENTS AND EACH COIN HAS A STORY TO TELL. I TRY TO BUY THE BEST GRADE THAT I CAN, BUT IT HAS BECOME VERY DIFFICULT LATELY WITH THE RAPIDLY RISING PRICES, SO I HAVE BEEN SITTING ON THE SIDE LINES WATCHING TO SEE WHERE THE MARKET GOES FROM HERE. I'M TRYING NOT TO BUY INTO THIS LOW "POP" MARKET TO SEE THE "POP" DOUBLE OR MORE IN 6 TO 12 MONTHS.

    THANKS AGAIN TO ALL,
    HAVE A GREAT NIGHT,
    SAM

I was looking at your amazing proof silver eagle set. I notice the '97-P is PR70, but no DCAM. Is this one of those coins that was graded before they started using the cameo designations? If so, do you plan on submitting for a designation review, so you can boost your set even more?

    GOOD EYE MARTY,

YES, THE 97P WAS GRADED BEFORE THE DCAM's WERE AROUND, IT IS A PR70DCAM AND COMPARED TO SOME OTHER PCGS PR70DCAM's IT MIGHT EVEN GO PR71DCAM. WITH THE PROOF SILVER EAGLES A PR70 IS WORTH THE SAME WEIGHT IS THE SAME AS A PR70DCAM. I THINK THERE WERE ONLY FOUR COIN THAT WERE GRADED EARLY ON AND ALL HAVE BEEN REHOLDERED AS PR70DCAM EXCEPT THIS ONE. MY 1995W WAS ALSO A PR70 AND THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD IT RESLABED AS A DCAM. I KNOW IT'S A DCAM AND THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS TO ME AT THIS TIME. IF PCGS WERE TO CHANGE THIS I WOULD SEND IT BACK FOR A DCAM GRADING. BUT FOR NOW IT'S A LITTLE PIECE OF PCGS GRADING HISTORY.

    THAT'S MY SILVER DOLLARS WORTH,

    HAVE A GREAT NIGHT,

    SAM

Learjetsam; Do you see these commems raw in the original packaging? Obviously
they won't necessarily be high grade when found this way, but I wonder if they
might be sufficiently less expensive to warrant finding your own gems? They used
to litter the shops around here and were often quite cheap, though admittedly they
aren't seen as often anymore. ...and the very low mintage issues weren't seen as
    often.

Most moderns are going to have increasing pops for years. Of course the scarce coins
won't go up nearly so much and demand should increase right along with it.

    CLADKING,

MIKE (INNEEDOF70's) SENT IN HIS FIRST 8 COINS TO PCGS AND 2 CAME BACK AS MS70. HE HAD BOUGHT THE COINS DIRECTLY FROM THE MINT. THE ONLY PROBLEM I FIND IN BUYING RAW COINS FROM A DEALER IS THAT MOST HAVE ALREADY BEEN PICKED THROUGH AND THE GOOD ONES HAVE BEEN SENT IN FOR GRADING. IT SEEMS THAT A RAW MODERN COMM'S ARE WORTH MORE THAN A MS68.
