Bust Dollar 1797 AMERICAI ?

ERER Posts: 7,345
We all know the 1800 AMERICAI variety.
But is there a 1797 AMERICAI ? The reason I'm asking is because Teletrade has a 1797 Bust Dollar coming up this Sunday 5/11, lot#1211, NGC VF30, that has a vertical line after AMERICA, just like the 1800 variety. Maybe Bust Dollar expert Cardinal can help.
Sorry, don't know how to link their photo to here. Maybe someone can help.

    ER,

There is no die variety of the 1797 dollar that would be described as an "Americai" variety; however, there are a number of specimens known which display double and triple striking. So, it is possible that one of those mis-struck specimens might end up looking like an "Americai."

Here is the image in question:

In this case, I think the image is simply displaying a number of scratches on the NGC holder. There is a very noticeable scratch on the holder on the obverse, from Liberty's hair, past the top of the 9 in the date and then to the rim, and there are a couple of smaller scratches on the reverse side of the holder. One of those scratches is just after the end of the word "America" on the coin, so it makes it look like an "Americai," but it's not.
