1000th Post Giveaway! -- Need Ideas!

Edited: Okay I've decided to throw in a 2nd and 3rd prize as well -- but c'mon I need ideas -- and Coinguy is officially excluded!

Okay, so I am 2 away from my 1000th post and I want to mark the occassion by doing a giveaway. And of course, it's going to be a toned Peace $ -- a raw 1923 MS 62/63. Don't know if its AT or NT, but what the hey, why not, the lucky winner can't submit it and find out. (I'll post pics of it in the Giveaway thread)

I just don't know what to do. I want to make it some sort of contest -- a trivia question, a riddle, a scavenger hunt on Ebay? I don't know, what do you think would be interesting.

Let me know your ideas!

Thanks
Michael

How about a thought-provoking question that requires insight- you decide what answer brings you to the most tears, and that person wins.

Or, if that won't work, just send me the coin, and I'll be more than happy image

How bout defending Lucy free of charge at my next disturbing the peace court appearence? The judge flirts with me, but he keeps giving me 20 hrs community service because some of the people on my block complain about the Rockabilly parties! Can you believe those squares? image

How about a drawing contest. The funniest caricature of a slab wins.

I think the fifth person to reply to your post should win.

How about a sort of scanvenger hunt on ebay. Designing a few riddles where the answers leads you to three different coin lots. The first one to PM you with the correct http addresses wins; nor the person who comes up with the best contest idea wins.

    Michael,

How about giving the coin to whomever can make the most persuasive argument in defense of your collecting those ugly toned Peace dollars?image THAT would take some doing!

Or, in the alternative, to whomever can make the best argument as to why you should stop buying those oxidized pieces of ugliness.image
  • Give it to Russ. With over 10000 posts he deserves it. J Voege

Give it to Lucy. She is the best looking person on the board. That should count for something. Plus she needs to expand her collecting away from those nasty Franklins!!!!!! You actually might be saving her soul in the process.image

    How about a trivia question?

I'll suggest one, since I know the answer image

    Q. What coins are buried in the cornerstone of the state capital building in Carson City, Nevada?
  • How about a number of coin facts that can be found on the internet and are for several series so no expert in a series might know right away.image

I've decided to do 3 seperate contests with a winner for each one. A trivia question, a riddle and a guess the amount. First to provide the right answer wins!

    I'll post the contests tomorrow.

    Prize 1 -- raw 1923 MS62/63 Toned Peace $

Prize 2 -- 2 raw toned silver Canadian Halves

Prize 3 -- 1925 ANACS Net MS60 Toned (Environmental Damage) Peace $ (I don't think its damaged though)

I know they aren't great prizes but at least it'll be fun.

    Thanks
    Michael
  • Just give the 1st 100 1st prize; 2nd 75 2nd prize; 3rd 50 3rd prize.

Seriously, how about guessing the value of your best set of peace dollars. can't use price guide, based say on recent auction sales, Heritage and Stacks. Base it on the highest or lowest dollar amount your set is worth or could be purchased for. Based on last year or so sales at the two houses. Would be kind of fun and take someone a little time to do the research. And you could further refine it.

Why not the timetested old "draw a name out of the hat" contest. Seems to me that would be the fairest.......Ken
