HI Everyone

Hi everyone. I'm another new coin collector with LOTS of questions. I won't be asking them all at once, but I may keep some of you busy.
First off I would like to say I've been reading this and other forums for awhile and have found this one to be the most informative.

For my first question. I have a 1962 Franklin half that doesn't look normal on the obverse. I would like to post a photo here and get some feedbacks on what may have caused it. Could it be a mint error or what. I would like to know how to place the picture on the board.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome, and hang on tight areound here! Post a picture of the Frankie and I'm sure Lucy, Frank the pug or Claus will comment on it. Put Frankie in the title and Lucy should pipe up within minutes!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

Do you have the picture hosted anywhere currently?

Welcome to the boards, and welcome to coin collecting!

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • Thank you Kranky.

Thanks Russ, I didn't want to have to explain all of that.

If you have the image uploaded onto the web, then you can post a link in the message reply screen. Just click the picture icon (it is the fourth on from the left above the message area) and paste the url for the picture in the text box that appears.

Hamsters oy! Why collect they the taco.
  • Thanks dimeadzn. I thought that's what I needed to do. I do have a web site but it has nothing to do with coins. May be I'll just add another page to that and go from there.
    Thanks again.

wheelman, you need to follow the steps in the link provided by Russ (image has to be less than 50K bytes).

Welcome aboard. I'm guessing it got too close to an acetylene torch.

man - that's weird! I would've thought that if it got too close to high heat it would be discoloring by now. The reverse looks normal, so it doesn't appear that this was done after being struck, so my only guess is that it may have been struck through something. I'd take it to a dealer and see what they have to say as it would be impossible to accurately assess from a picture. If it looks like it was a strikethrough or some other error, it would be worth sending to ANACS for authentication.

    Welcome to the boards!!!

Cool looking Franklin you have there! Don`t know much about errors myself but, the novelty of it is one reason to keep it. Welcome to the boards.
