It looks like another person has finished 1986 Fleer in PSA 10

Although his set is not viewable, The Bryant 86 Fleer PSA 10 Collection is now showing as 10.00 GPA 100% in 1986-87 Fleer Basketball. Grats to him and Virgil Adkins.

    Thats just downright amazing!

And I see that Virgil has a 2nd set 97% in PSA 10 as well. I'll tell you... he's a better man than I...

If I was in his position and saw that the set right below my spare one was John Branca - I think that I would be tempted to see how much it would be worth to help upgrade his set. I'm sure that he wouldn't pay "stupid" money to upgrade to near 10, but I'm betting that he would be one of the people who could appreciate the value of not having to chase after individual cards and be willing to factor that into the price.

I wonder if he's going to list it on eBay for ONE MEEELYUN* Dollars as we've seen other '86 Fleer PSA 10 Sets in the past.

  • I don't collect basketball, so I am curious...

When I read this post I went and looked at the pop report for this issue... seems to be a fair number of 10's out there.

SMR says a 10 set is worth 42K and change... in the real world what would this set bring?

hard to say -- the cards that are numbered (multiples of 11) +1, I think, are the true toughies of the set -- #67, #78, etc. Those cards bring huge premiums over other cards in the set. Hard to predict price -- remember it was only a few years ago that the Jordan rookie sold for $35,000 in PSA 10.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

    jimrupprecht,

I have no idea what it would sell for, but if I was to sell a set like that, the prudent thing to do is to break it up and sell it card by card. If the set is worth $42K as the SMR states, there are only a handful of collectors across the country that could write a check for that set. I guess we'll watch and see how long it stays intact under this collector's ownership.
