Does the Backlog worry you?

I submitted 4 orders about 2 weeks ago friday, via regular service (15 bus. days). Today is 8 business days and a call to customer service says they are not even in grading yet. I am worried that the coins will be hurried through and this will leave no time to "look" at a coin that may stand out. Does this worry you?

Add a few more days to your order! The show in St. Louis (according to customer service) makes the guarentee for 15 void!

    Right off the website!

<< <i>Guaranteed turnaround times are invalid during the weeks of major coins shows PCGS attends. >>

It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • That explains why My show submission (Express - 7 day) hasn't even been entered into the computer yet.

It doesn't matter to much to me except that I'm anxious to see the new grade. Thanks for the info!

  • It doesn't worry me in particular. I don't honestly believe that they'll rush through coins to meet a certain deadline. I think they're typically fair, and they've always been consistent with my submissions.

I still think when you pay for a service (1 day, 3 days, 5 days or 15 days). That is what you are paying for and that is what you should get! If PCGS sends graders to shows, they should still have graders back in-house to pick up the slack! You are paying for a guarenteed service, and there is a show every month! IMHO, if you pay the extra for a guarenteed service that is what you should get, show or no show! The idea that the guarentee is void when the graders go to a show is BS!

  • I agree marty a service is a service, now if all graders had SARS image then I could see that, but do they send all the graders to shows and shut down the place?image

Pennies make dollars, and dollars make slabs!

....inflation must be kicking in again this dollar says spend by Dec. 31 2004!

  • Well......as i don't submit thru my dealer very often, and not at the premium tiers.......as Johnny Carson often said: "I did not know that!"

Seems to me if any order is submitted under a (currently in force) guarenteed turnaround, and fails to turn in that time, a full refund is in order! The USPS and UPS back their Express next day services with their dollars, and is the only way to keep a company running efficiently. If the turnaround can't be met.....remove the choice and immedialy refund the pricing difference should a package ship before an announcement was made that the turn times were impossible to meet.

Seems to do otherewise is the old having your cake and eating it too kind of thing.

    Marty,

The only shows that negate the turnaround guarantee are those where they are doing on-site grading.

<< <i>For shows where on-site PCGS grading will take place, in-house turnaround guarantees will not be valid. >>

So, for example, the MIDAMERICA Coin Expo at the end of next month will have no impact, but Longbeach at the end of this month will.

Me too. And, so far, I'm on day 35 of my first submission. I'm beginning to wonder if their reputation for speed is unwarranted.

Yes sir boys and girls, send us your money and we wil have your coins done in 3 business weeks, except, except, except that now we are going to give priority to someone other than you loyal paying customers that expected honest service. You see, we are way behind in our grading, but we are going to take some more time off to go to the show, so we can get further behind. Hell, that makes sense to me..........Ken

I bunched up with another member about a month ago and he sent in about a dozen coins for me. I never even asked him if he has sent them in yet, so no, the backlog doesn't worry me much. They'll get done when they get done. image
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
