Just heard they did a FED sweep closing down Long Island telemarketers
NEW WORLD, Monarch, US COIN Brokers and Wall Street Rare Coins.
Anyone have any info?

Is that New World Rarities? Their website is still up. They had a super rare error cent for sale over there- a 1931S with missing 31. How did they know it was a 31S if the 31 was missing?

I think the Feds should shut down a few 3rd tier grading services also. They do as much if not more damage to newbie collectors and the industry as the crooked dealers IMO.

they're being charged under the 'martin act'. civil matter involving misrepresentation of securities. my guess is were selling 'securities' (calling slabs)an 'investment') without a license.

Just before we closed last year, I had a strange pair of customers.

A well dressed lady and a gentleman (in a tie) who wished to buy $20,000 of gold bullion.
They emphasized that they would be paying in ..... CASH. (my requirement anyhow)

But......when I whipped out my trusty old form 8300......... they SIGNED it AND provided the necessary ID and SSN.

No bickering or asking why I did it.

............I.......know I'm glad I did it.
