Anyone else having problem getting on and bidding on their web site tonight?
I have DSL, and it still took forever to get on. Very frustrating.

It's the Heritage server - time to upgrade.

I'm going to e-mail Greg Rohan directly tomorrow and let him know that they need to make changes.
I hope you guys do the same. If they hear from enough people, maybe they'll do something about it.
Apparently, this is a problem Heritage has had for quite some time now.

Even this morning it was slow. From the time I logged in and clicked on My Bids it took a full 25 seconds for the bidding page to load. I was trying to be high bidder on a Barber Dime and finally gave up.
I guess I could bid through eBay and pay the extra 15%. NOT!!!!!

Good idea ER, I entered batch bids with 12 minutes to go, and they never went through.

It was fast until 5 minutes till end. I had 6 separate pages opened for last minute bids. I made 6 bids with two minutes to spare, pressed confirm bid and only two were accepted. OH well it is only money..in the hundreds and hundreds of dollars lost to bidders who gave their coins to Heritage and profits for Heritage. I will find more coins and someone else will get my cold hard cash.

  • I just tried, had no problem. The problem of their server being slow at some times isn,t new. image

  • Finally got onto the damn site. The two lots that I intended to bid on went for two and three increments less than the amounts that I intended to bid. I'm going to give the 2K to my wife to buy a new couch.

I missed out on 2 quarters I had my screens open for. I ended up getting 2 that I bid on with about 5 minutes left

I was able to bid with 5 minutes left, but now nothing. No way to tell if it is machine or connection. Be interesting to find out, I know they have done a lot of upgrades to their systems (of course they never got rid of the MS portion, so not sure anything was an upgrade). May be network troubles down Texas way.

I can say one thing that's fast about their site-their billing. Last time I won anything they sent me a bill a couple of days after the auction.
I managed to win a lot tonight and this time several HOURS after the auction ended I had a demand for payment. With the usual they had to receive my money by next Monday to maintain my A1 status threat. heehe

This is an on going problem they have had for some time. I don't think it is a traffic problem. At 6 this morning I was trying to look at some coins and I finally gave up and I have a cable modem.
  • I bid early. All the coins I wanted never got bumped at all. I guess some win and some lose. I got some sweet deals on the ones I wanted.image Truly, A lot of people lost lots of extra money by buyers not being able to get on.

Since I know Heritage will read this here's something else to complain about:
I get an automatic email from Heritage; they have 5 coins in auction that's on my want list.
I'm thinking goody goody great cool! New coins!

I click on the 1897 IHC one and it takes 20 seconds for the page to open.
Cool, the grade I want. Let me click on the picture & see what it looks like. Hmmm....wait another 20 seconds.
Looks like a bad mark on it-let me enlarge it. Whoops, there's another 20 seconds.
I guess it looks ok. Click on the tracking box. Another 20 seconds.
It tells me to log in; another 20 seconds but now it's tracked.

So back to my email; next coin is that Proof Barber Quarter.
I click on it takes 20 seconds for the page to open.

So back to my email; next coin is that 93-CC Morgan.
I click on it takes 20 seconds for the page to open.
Cool, MS64. Let me click on the picture & see what it looks like. Hmmm....wait another 20 seconds.
Looks like a bad mark on it-let me enlarge it. Whoops, there's another 20 seconds.
I guess it looks ok. Click on the tracking box. Another 20 seconds.
It tells me to log in; another 20 seconds. DAMN!! TeleTrade doesn't make me log in every time I click on a coin. Now it's tracked though.

So back to my email; next coin is that 1897 $2.5 Eagle.
I click on it takes 20 seconds for the page to open.
Cool, MS63. Let me click on the picture & see what it looks like. Hmmm....wait another 20 seconds.
Looks nice-let me enlarge it. Whoops, there's another 20 seconds.
I guess it looks ok. Click on the tracking box. Another 20 seconds.
It tells me to log in; I click the X box at the top right hand corner instead and go back to deleting X10 camera spam and weenie enlargement offers from my inbox.

Their freaking site is still slow this AM.

I bid with six minutes left and won the lot, I could not bid with Internet Explorer I had to bid thru my AOL browser (36k dial up) and I kept track of the lot bidding by refreshing a couple times and it worked right up to the last minutes.

Billing is interesting. I paid at the show and picked up my lots. I still got a billing email 2 days later! I guess the laptop in St. Louis doesn't communicate with Dallas.

I hope you guys also drop him a line or two. Maybe they'll get a better sever if they hear from enough people.

Yeah, I was really disappointed. There were two lots in the Bullet Sale that I really wanted and was prepared to pay much more than they sold for.......damned computer problems!

You guys have got to go to cable modem!!!! DSL's are no better than a regular phone line which are effected by heat, humidity and service problems in the area. This is from a friend who has worked the systems for 30 years. He talked me into going cable modem, bundle phone and TV and save money!

  • Got DSL. As I stated, Got in with no trouble!! The only time I could'nt get in was because Heritage was updating it's web site. image

  • I have a cable modem. Twenty-five minutes before the auction ended I had no problem logging in. I went back fifteen minutes later and couldn't get past their home page.

Heritage has acknowledged that there was a problem and has been nice enough to offer me a gift certificate.

If I see a coin I want to bid on I figure out the max I want to bid and place my bid days before the auction ends.
Why wait until the last hour then complain when you can't get thru?

Took me 15 minutes to get a bid on one coin..I gave up after that..
    They really missed out again..

I won a couple of coins from them about three weeks ago. I called them to set things in order to get the tax taken off my bill. I'm a Texas resident, but reciently opened my own coin biz, got a tax number.... They had me fax them my tax number (the wouldnt just take my word for it... go figure). So I faxed it over and they were suposed to fax another document back to me to fill out. The next day, the two coins showed up in the mail and I still hadnt paid. Well, they never faxed that form back to me that they wanted me to fill out, so I called them a couple of days later. I gave them my fax number again and they said they'd get the tax situation taken care of. I asked if I could go ahead and pay the bill with the exception of the tax. After all, I already had the coins, and they were up on e-bay. The lady left for about 3-4 minutes, then came back and said they could do that. So I told her to put it on the credit card I have on file with them. I've already sold both the coins. I checked my credit card yesterday, and they still havent charged my card for them. I havent heard anything.... I'll call them in the next day or two to see what the deal is.

About 7 PM EST lasdt night, it took about 10 minutes for a few pages to load (DSL here 1.3+ meg d/l speed).
Placed a bid an hour before the end, and it was up to normal speed. Go figure.
