Hello David,
I think I have a problem with a coin that I don't know what to do about it. The coin is an 1854-D three dollar gold AU50 that I purchased in Feb 2000. Over the last year the coin has acquired in a small area on the upper reverse of greenish-grayish haze which impairs the luster of the coin. I don't know if this substance is PVC or what, or if it is damaging the coin. It has been in the same PCGS holder the entire time I have had it and has been stored with other coins that have not had a problem. Is there anything I can do? Due to the rarity of the coin I don't want to make any mistakes with it. Do you have any suggestions for me?

Send it to me and I'll take a look. Mark the PCGS invoice "Att; David Hall" in big letters and it will get to me.
