Third time was the charm...

I just ( I mean, like, two minutes ago) won this auction: auction link

The first time this coin was offered, it was in the US: Dimes category and closed at $9.95 with no action. I flat-out forgot to place a bid, and wrote seller offering to buy it outright at the opening bid. She decided to relist it instead.

This second time it was offered, in the same category, I had the only bid for 6 days, 23 hours, 59 minutes and several seconds. Then I got sniped.

Now the same coin was offered a third time, by the winner of the second auction, this time in the US: Errors category. It is finally mine, but at 2.5x the price I could have paid had I been taking ginko biloba a month ago.

It will now reside proudly in my off-center clad dime date set... if I can remember where I put the rest of them...

Nice error dime. With all do respect $26.00 is a bit pricey.I've bought mine at shows for no more than 8 or 9 bucks on average.

For undated or common date coins that sounds about right, maybe even a little high. There are a few unhinged folks like myself working on date runs, and we have been pushing prices lately. Most dated off-center dimes from 1981 to about 1993 (with 1989 a notable exception) are pretty scarce, and $20-$30 is not out of line with other prices realized on eBay.

Tell you what - find me any of the following dates for $8-9 at a show and I'll happily double your money:
