Such a deal!!

keetskeets Posts: 25,351 ✭✭✭✭✭
I just renewed my CC membership for one year and the packet came over the weekend. Really, how can you beat it for value? We receive 4 submissions, a hard copy of the current pop report, online subscription for the pop report and an MS68 2003 silver eagle.

I think the eagle's undergraded!! image

If you submit your own coins, then it is a good deal. I use a dealer, get a discount (he gets the discount). I can get his old copies of the population reports if wanted. The only thing I need to do is subscribe to the online pop reports, which I do.

I see no reason for me to upgrade my membership.

Letting your dealer submit for you is letting one more variable into the equation. image

c'mon now. i post this thinking there is NO way anyone can possibly put a negative spin on it, and whammo!!!! i guess i should have known better.

certainly if your dealer would charge you less than $100 for 4 submissions i would say go for it. if he does that over and over and over and over again i would say he either likes you a lot or is a poor businessman. hang onto that sweet deal as long as it's there for you!! for the average collector who submits coins themselves, it's a good deal.

    hey, that would be me!!!image

Keets, it is a great deal.

I even used my four submissions on "error" coins- you can't beat that value as these coins normally run more than the $99. fee alone.

It's like getting all the other stuff as a bonus.

It's such a deal I signed up twice and had two memberships going at once!
(I don't think PCGS incourages that though! Whenever I called they couldn't figure out which Collectors Universe membership number to use.)

I didn't say this was not a good deal, just not a good deal for me. But, PCGS just raised their prices so it is getting closer. I still save on shipping though by adding my coins to his submissions. May actually submit my free ones from my 90% complete sets though.

    Yep.
If you ever submit to NGC, they also offer a great deal now. It used to be, for your $99. Membership fee, you had to also accept a bunch of Comic and Card coupons with your coin grading certificates. I ended up just tossing those freebies out.
Now though you can click your primary interest as COINS and NGC sends you ONLY coin related coupons. What I like is they, on top of the four express gradings, send three coupons for NCS! That alone is a deal as I have three coins that need evaluation/currating (all in SEGS holders) and was going to use this Service anyway.

Both PCGS and NGC are competitive with their promotions and the deals they offer are valid and worthy of even a casual collectors consideration.

I was under the impression that you only get the four free submissions the first time you joined. Am I understanding correctly that you get it each time you renew?

I still haven't decided whether I will re-up my CC membership. I have 4 coins to submit, though.

Pat, errors are $15 for dealers, I have 6 in right now. Even then, the $39 for the pop reports, and 4x$15 comes out to the $100 (-$1). I may actually sign up as I have some more errors to send in. Perhaps this will be a good deal even for me.

I was under the impression the teir for Errors has changed and is now $30. Can anyone confirm?

Also, each time you renew you receive the full benefits of the giveaways.

Did they mail you the renewal or did you have to take the initiative?

Pat, for dealers there is a $15 error economy. Read it right off of the PCGS dealer pricing sheet effective 4/1/2003 (have 6 in right now at that rate). This may be a dealer only thing.
