is this a error?

found this going thur some wheat cent and was wondering if this was a error and if so any value, looks like the 5 is slanted in the 55image

  • Really can't tell from the scan. There was a poor man's 55 where the last 5 was slightly doubled. image

    There was die polishing in 1955 that extended the second 5 out toward the rim. These coins are plentiful and known as a "poor man's double die." Technically not a double die, but many people use them as hole fillers. As far as value, I'm not sure if there is any premium for these coins.

    Hard to tell from the scan, but it doesn't look too odd to me.

    Looks like a poor man's double die to me. I searched 10 rolls of 55 cents and found a roll of these.

    Yes it is. An EGREGIOUS error.

    Now go to the blackboard and write: "Is this ....AN....error?" 500 times.
