Net Graded?

I have a chain cent on approval to purchase for my Type Set. My question - is this piece net graded? The reverse, pictured, has excellent definition, full rim and smooth planchet. However, there is an obvious cut in the field. After viewing several Chain cents graded by PCGS, it seems to me that this one, PCGS vf25 has been net graded. Does PCGS do that? I would appreciate any opinions. Thank you.

Does PCGS net grade? Yes. All the services do. Most just don't make note of it.

It's hard to tell from the pic of your chain cent for sure. From what I see, it looks like they might have downgraded it for environmental damage.

I have an 1883 half dollar PCGS MS62. It's got quite a few hairlines on it. I'm suprised they even graded it. If it weren't for the hairlines, I believe it would have graded MS65. It's a super sharp coin, even with the hairlines.

    DAM,

My scan of the cent stinks!! How can I scan dark coins effectively?. Anyway, the coin is smooth (no porosity) and has no green in it - just dark chocalate brown. The cut is evident even in my poor scan at 1:30. My dilemma is keeping a nice representaition of type with a flaw. I'll be up all night stewing on the pros and cons.

What would y'all do? This is a similar question to one on the US Coin forum. Thanks. image

    My bad Wondo.

I mistook the green in the image to be green on the coin. image

When are you going to upgrade those two early two-cent dates? imageimageimageimage
