or well done? i started looking on ebay this morning and noticed alot of auctions for these. almost all the ads say very rare. and really low mintage. does anyone know if this is just hype or are these really low mintage coins?

No....I would venture a guess that 90% of all 2003 SAE's sent in for slabbing to PCGS would grade PR69. The ones I have received from the US Mint have had spectacular strikes and surfaces.

I agree. The one's I recently received are gorgeous. The only "rare" part for eBay is the fact that the ones up for auction are the first to return from the grading houses. These sellers must have ordered from the mint on the first day, received them quickly, then turned around and sent them in for grading as quick as possible.

My advice is wait a few months for the price to stabilize before buying - you should be able to find PR69DCAM's for roughly $40 or less shipped.
