1977 OPC Baseball--Got any???

Hey all,
As I get further into the 77 set I'm starting to collect the OPC "variations" from 1977. For instance Tony Perez with Montreal, Fred Kendall with Cleveland, Rick Monday with L.A., etc. Obviously, I have special interest in Expos and Blue Jays as virtually each card is a variation from the regular issue. I'm looking for NM/MT or better copies from this set...can any of you guys help??? Raw is preferred, but graded would be just dandy as well...SGC and GAI welcome. This is about the cards not the holders.
Thanks a ton,
Phil

There were quite a few PSA 8 and 9s that were recently auctioned on ebay. Most of them sold (including an 8 Monday) but a couple did not including this Winfield and Richard. The seller might just sell them to you unless he plans on reauctioning them.
  • You may want to try Jason Chartrand. He is a reliable Canadian dealer and I suspect has some of those stashed away. They were very easy in unopened form not that long ago. Should be plenty around.

Thanks guys. I saw the Winfield and Richard among others, but I'm really interested in the "variations". I picked up the Perez (Expos) in PSA 9 and recently landed Chip Lang. Fuzz- Do you have any contact info for this dealer? Thanks again!

Nothing to be sorry about. If you want the Bull just make me an offer and we'll work it out. I need a '77 Murcer as a Cub over here!!!

DGF- Yeah, you swooped the Perez right from under my nose. I was able to get the Bench and Morgan though (glad they weren't variation or you might have gotten those too). I'll keep my eyes open for any '77 OPC's. Let me know if you have ANY interest at all in trading/selling the Perez. Scott

Scott, I'd be glad to trade the Perez once I land a comparable raw copy or a strong "8". Particularily on OPC, the difference between 8's and 9's means very little to me...with the cuts it's even more of a crap-shoop than the regular issue. Just nice, clean presentable copies--all I need for now. The seller of the Perez scared me a bit...not the most reliable fellow on the block...downright flaky. He's got OODLES of OPC from '77 but he's too unreliable. You can have a deal "done" with him and he'll disappear...strange bird at best. I'd like to get my variations from another source, if possible. I hope you got your cards okay. Thanks for sparing the Perez.

    Fuzz,
I need some help with that contact...thanks.
  • Phil,
Sorry for the delay, I was away from the PC for the weekend with the kids but did manage to see a really bad FB game. The email for Jason Chartrand is gerryssportscards@sympatico.ca . He is a frequent eBay'r as well under "Chartzride". No I'm not on the payroll.
Also when looking through some recent catalogs over the last few days, I did see All Star cards (allstarcardsinc.com) has a complete set as well with a few graded. Looked pretty nice in the description.
Good Luck, if I recall, alot of these look as if they were cut apart with a plastic knife and a dull one at that.

I have dealt with Gerryssportscards on several occasions and can vouch for their professionalism and service. I have also met them personally at shows here in Canada and they really are great guys. You can access their inventory online at gerryssportscards.com. Once there you will see the link to Jasonsbaseballcards. I'm not on the payroll either, however I will always take the time to vouch for a dealer who has provided me with top notch cards and service.
