CSNS show in St. Louis. Thought and goodies. Photo for Russ added.

I just walked back from the show to my hotel room, which is a whole 100 feet from the Convention Center. The show is great. I'll be heading back in a little bit. Met members TBT, MadMarty, jbstevens, Dave Weygant, coinguy1. Also stopped by to say hi to many others that I have met.
My highlights: I got an absolutely gorgeouse 1910 PR66 Liberty Nickel from Andy S of Angel Dee's. The coin is rainbow toned on both sides, with super flashy mirrors. It must have just missed a Cam designation. It is really nice. As always, I highly recommend Andy Skrabalak. Especially if you are looking for top end Lincolns and Buffalos. But, Andy is expanding his inventory and has many other nice coins as well. I also got a great PF65 2 Cent piece from Pinnacle. I had talked to Mark Feld earlier about the coin. Mark is a great guy as all of you know. I saw the finest proof type 1 Buffalo that I have ever seen at Dave Weygants table. NGC PF68 with the most intense, superb rainbow toning you can imagine. TBT has his usual fantastic toned coins. TBT (Bryan) has a great sense of humor, I found out. I enjoyed talking to him.
I bought a lovely 2 Cent piece from Jack Beymer coins. 1869 NGC MS65RB. Mostly red and spot free. Very nice luster. This is the second excellent 2 cent piece that I have gotten from Jack. Actually his wife waited on me today, and his lovely daughter the time before. I would like to spend some time talking to Jack and his family. A lot of coin knowledge there. Thanks
I also stopped by Jon Kerns table. I put an Ionian 1/3 Stater electrum coin on layaway. These are among the earliest struck coins. Usually struck on a nugget of electrum found in river beds. Jon is helping me to put together a set of Parthian coins. He is a very nice guy.
Tons of Morgans at the show, a lot of nice gold and tons of nice type coins to. Everyone seems real upbeat. I would say that the show
will be a big success.
I am having dinner with Mitch (wondercoin) tonight. I am sure he has brought something nice to show me. Mitch is a walking encyclopedia on coins. I always enjoy talking to him. Just ask him about Patterns or Washington quarters sometimes. Then sit back and listen.image
I wish all of you could be here. Coins Rule. mdwoods

Russ, the luster is better in person (as usual). The only mark on the coin is the one that shows above the S in CENTS. It looks bad in the photo, but I never even saw it until I got home. And I spent a lot of time looking at it under 2 different lights. It is a pin scratch that just caught the light.

Hey guys! Resting in the room right now (with my cold Lucy inflicted on me)!! image Will go to dinner with Mark in about an hour and judging from the purchases he made today, I'll be treating! image

    A couple comments:

    1. Nick- I did not see any new MS68 silver Roosies made nor did I hear of any (hence, you missed nothing) image

    2. WWQ: I bid strongly for nearly all the Wash quarters in the auction and won 10 lots or so. I was underbidder on at least another dozen or so. Overall, I believe you correct in your assessment of the Wash quarter performance in the auction.

I too had a great time walking the floof today. I picked up a beautfully toned 1861 PCGS MS64 Seated Quarter from Mike Printz at Larry Whitlow LTD.. I also bought a raw 35 Washington that I think has a shot at MS67 and a 37D that could go MS66. I spent quite a bit of time with Mark Feld, who has an incredible passion for beautiful coins. As others have noted, the sheer amount of coins at an event this size is truly overwhelming. It's easy to forget where you have been and what you have seen unless you go row by row, up one side and down the other. I'm also staying at the hotel directly across the street from the convention center, which is very convenient. I'm hoping to meet some more forum members tonight or tomorrow.

Android, I have seen that 1861 quarter. Its probably the nicest MS-64 no motto Quarter around.

Mike had it priced right for the outstanding quality of the coin. You made an excellent purchase of a

    very terrific coin there.

    Thanks Bear!

I think there is still a picture of it on their website as well. It was definately one of those "have to have it" coins once I saw it in person. Once it caught my eye, I was hooked!

I'll be posting some photos for sure. I hope you guys do the same with your new goodies. I'm starting to see and get to know more and more people at these shows. I met a gentleman coming to the show on the plane who had some amazing pattern coins. Including a mule, double reverse IHC in Nickel. He also had a gorgeous copper Proof Seated Dime. Still had tons of luster. I told him of the forum, and I hope he soon joins. He seemed to know a lot about pattern coinage. mdwoods

Bought this 1860 Type 2, PCGS 66, at the CSNS show. It's really tough to find these with full feathers, especially the first feather. Was glad to find it on the bourse. Hope others post pictures too.
