Just Returned from St. Louis- I thought some of these coins were rare!

I have never seen so many coins in my life, especially bright white and toned Morgan Dollars. I thought they were rare!

No wonder this chat room is so quiet...all of the members are there.

Yeah! We want a show report.
  • Well,

I met Laura Serber, JB Stevens, Mad Marty and a host of other dealers, including Pinnacle Rarities and Mark.

Tons of coins! I especially liked the older Bust halves and bust dollars which were limited in the higher grades. Proof set break-outs were ver evident as there were hosts of slabs and raw proof coins available. Obviously dealers can ask $8.00 for a proof coin individually when the proof set itself is only worth $9.00.

It wasn't too crowded and I liked that. (Wasn't good news for the dealers though). My guess is it will pick up this afternoon and tomorrow it will be a zoo.

This was my first big show and I enjoyed going up and down the rows.

I agree re: tons of Morgans. It makes me never want to look at one, let alone buy one, again. Frankly, there were so many coins to look at that it was overwhelming.

I also met Laura and spoke with Mark Feld from Pinnacle. He was as nice a "coinguy" as everyone here says.

    Thanks, Abe.

Isn't going to the Big Show spectacular? It is amazing just to see the expanse, the sheer size of a show like that. And the people--meeting all these folks you've known here or heard about--it's like a mixture of the Academy Awards (all those celebs) and a class reunion! I've gone to FUN three years running now, and won't miss it. Up to TNA next weekend!

And the coins! You'll never see a convocation of such coins in one place! (I'm always blown away by how many Morgans they struck, though!)

    Glad you're having fun!
  • It was also an Ebay of "Who's Who". All the sellers and buyers that are coin dealers that I've run into on Ebay were there. Putting names and faces together was interesting.
