The news media screws up the coin facts again.

My local Thursday news paper has a "just for kids" section. They wrote an article on " Who are those old guys in your wallet?" It is almost a full page article on the people pictured on our currency. The article lists all the current coins and paper money. The list states that the Susan B. Anthony dollar is silver!! When is the media going to get it right ? I guess coin shops phones are going to start ringing with people wanting to sell there S.B.A's as junk silver.

Well Paul - the days of believing everything you read are long gone aren't they?

It's bad enough when the media gets it wrong but how about when someone who is suppose to be in the know gets it wrong. This coin "expert" states that there are 400,000 1916-D dimes in existence. With a mintage of 264,000 either the surviving population is having children (with the original mintage having miraculously survived attrition) or there are a ton of counterfeits out there.

Send a letter to your Thursday and set them straight.
The media often gets things a little off as much of their info comes second hand. Only big stories get careful scrutiny.

I guess the news paper didn't realize the current dollar coin is the "golden dollar"
