1964 Kahns Rose realizes strong price on Ebay

$2,425 to Steve Novella. I would presume he has a non-Ebay buyer lined up, or we will see it in his inventory. Very nice card -- exceptionally rare in this grade.

I know that Champs & Bums used to have a similar Rose Kahn's card in high grade. I forget the year, I thought it was PSA 9, and I do not recall the selling price. Just another example of high-grade Rose cards realizing significant premiums in the current marketplace.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

I have seen 5 raw examples of this card, and the description in the listing was very accurate. The cards I viewed had some stains, creases, etc. I watched that card form the start and knew it would go over 2K and was actually surprised it did not go higher. That is a rare card as it is, and to have one in that grade is something to consider. I do not see that card being offered again for less than 5K.

By the way, the card was at $1039.14 with 20 secs to go - I made sure I watched it to see who it went to, as that is a huge card to add to the Rose Master Set.

I'll still waiting for an unopened 1964 package of Kahn's Weiners to show up on the next Mastro Auction. image

On a more serious note, I remember these from when I was a kid when Kahns issued them in Pittsburgh with Pirate players. Weren't these cards a part of the outer packaging? Hence, if you wanted a stand-alone photo, didn't you have to cut it out yourself from the external wrapper? With that being said, isn't there a real slippery slope to grading them? Is there a minimum size requirement? In not, can't these be cut so that they will be mint unless there are creases or surface wear? I've also wondered about this with early '60's Post Cereal cards.

Maybe you are remembering the '68 and '69 issues, which were different.
Don't expect to see this in Novella's inventory nor on the set registry anytime soon.

    murcerfan,

I just looked in an SCD Annual Guide and the ones that were on the outer panel were issued 1966-1969.
